Keep in mind, Auburn High was bad for a long time… they’ve only been good the last 15 yrs or so… maybe 20.

With all the growth, money and change over the years, Auburn High's sports programs are definitely much improved. I'm not sure if they were particularly bad - just more normal than now, if that makes sense. Up and down years in all sports. From what I know now, they are highly competitive in the big 3 year in and out. Happy for my alma mater!

Yeah… they played for the state title in 7a last year… lost to Thompson (another relatively avg historic program that’s having success now).

AHS c/o 89 here!! I played with David.
Welcome home, post more. I was '88. Did you by chance have mom for science? Tell me who you are without telling me who you are. Ex-girlfriend or best friend? I might even remember your position & number. I think David was #7. His older brother Ed was 15. Thanks for the info!
Now that I think about it....hmmmmmmmmmm.....

Graduate with Wanda?

She was a year behind me, maybe 2 (but I think 1). I knew her well. Pat Jr. was 3 years ahead, I think. Didn't really know him.

Are you from Auburn / Opelika?

It is crazy to think the lack of kids we don’t pull from Columbus, PC, Lagrange. Hell even enterprise and Dothan.
Seems we’ve turned a corner a little bit in Montgomery.

Corch, us AHS folks know our recruiting area better than anyone. Or did.
But yeah - I think / hope CHF is paying more attention to guys closer to home than past staffs. Plenty of solid talent around, and they grew up knowing Auburn, for better or worse. We need to work on our relationships with HS coaches. I'm sure we are.

No. I started AU in 87. From our past convos, I think I worked at Sewell with your cousin, but do know quite a few AHS people from that time who I met in college

I have no clue what the hell you are talking about.
Mars Hill didnt even have a football program like a decade ago. Last Year Harsin was visiting them.

I’m talking about all the generic Auburn high school talk.

I am from this area and it hasn't been a big hotbed for talent. However the past few years there has been highly ranked kids from the Wiregrass. More than usual at that.

Coaching talent has increased a lot at PC and AHS

While true, everything stems from the tax base in and around Lee Co going up exponentially in the last 20 years. More revenue, better public facilities, bigger budgets for coaches, so on. That’s the main reason for the turnaround

There’s been barely any talent in Dothan in the past couple decades, for whatever reason. Certainly reflected in the high school(s) level of success as well.

'Sup MW! Hope all is well.
Topic related - were you recruited at all or play ball after AHS? Genuinely interested. Anyone you remember from that time that went on to play elsewhere / not recruited by AU, besides Ace Atkins (AHS DE to AU)?
Kaz and fam were on my OA News paper route. Great guy, (Auburn+) legend. Enjoy your time in the asylum here. Post more.
