Yall remember when certain people on the board said we should hire freeze over kiffin because freeze can recruit. We're 48th on 247 in JULY

FWIW, since Kiffin was brought up, this is a good example of why to not worry about 247’s recruiting rankings this time of year. Too volume based to mean anything yet
Kiffin’s Ole Miss class is ranked 24th on 247 with 17 commits. It has 11 guys in it that are ranked lower than our lowest ranked commit 65% of their class isn’t in the top 700

That’s true to an extent, however, the alarm bells should be going off for everyone that we’re lagging behind.
If we somehow landed Riddick and Thompson (which could happen but it’ll be tough) our recruiting class would still be well behind most of the other top SEC classes.
FWIW, Thompson, Riddick, and Crawford would get us to 212.61 points on the 247 class calculator. That would put Auburn at 22nd in the team rankings.
At least for now, we’re not in a great spot with this class.

we will sign 20-23 players for the '24 class. Yall calm the frick down. We will finish somewhere in the Top 15. This is the tough class to get traction with for the staff. Going forward I expect Top 10 classes from this staff if they continue to work as hard as they are now. I see no reason they wouldn't.

Meh. Depends on your assessment of “OK” brother.
If you guys think pasted Freeze is gonna coach up some guys to compete with our rivals, you are probably going to be disappointed.
The hole is getting bigger and bigger and our ladder is getting shorter and shorter.

A couple of years ago, when it started to look like Gus’s recruiting was slumping some, I was sure that at least Bama and UGA couldn’t possibly recruit better than they were.
And I sure was wrong the transfer portal actually helped accelerate it because now they don’t really have to process anyone that doesn’t work out. They’re free and clear to bolt and plenty of schools need to fill roster spots so there’s usually takers. So those guys have all the room in the world to take whomever they like.
Need to get there in a hurry. We’re in better shape if we land the guys we think we might later this month. Even at that point, we still need some goddam lineman

I’m not going to give Freeze a pass if we bomb in this class. You can either recruit or you can’t. He’s got to have a class this year where we’re in the range we’re usually in.
However, you made the ridiculous statement of you have to have 6-7 top 100 guys to compete.
I went back and looked at some of our classes from when we did recruit at probably our highest level since rankings became such a big deal (I think was something like 2010-2015ish). One of those classes had 6 top 100 guys. The rest had 3 or less.
Even the later Gus classes were good but he could never get top tier Oline or WR to come.
