It’s a fair criticism. We are behind. Early but still somewhat concerning.

Very concerning. We will stay middle of the pack in the SEC, which is now even larger, with our recruiting. Freeze did save Harsin’s crap recruiting, but what he is doing right now is not really giving me good vibes. We need some big splash recruits to get things going. I know everyone will say, but it’s early. Ok.
Just go look at what the strong recruiting programs are doing early.
But Freeze just got here, gotta build relationships and all that. Ok.
Top coaches get it done. Plain and simple. We will only be a championship program with recruiting.
But Pete, we have won SEC championships in the past and weren’t top 5 recruiting like other big programs. Ok.

Just go look at what the strong recruiting programs are doing early.

Why would any top recruit want to play for Freeze without seeing him coach a game here? I’m glad we’re not handing out million dollar checks like other teams just to pump our made up recruiting ranking in July. Let the games and wins speak for itself. We’ll be fine if we win.

We will need to be recruiting top 10 again consistently to have a shot at a NC. Will be tough sledding but I'm hopeful we get there if we look good coming out of the gates.
It's all cyclical and we're currently completely broken. Hugh did an unreal job filling gaps in the off season.
Good Seasons > More Fan Support + Booster Support > More Money > More Players > Better Seasons > More Support and on and on...

Yeah, I have changed my stance some after a post made some good points. It doesn't make me any less hopeful that Freeze can eventually turn this around still, but concerns are lurking around right now as far as the HS recruiting is going.
Pete also hit on it about being a consistent contender for the crown will require a higher brand of recruiting. No doubt we can contend every so often, but if we are really wanting a program that wins 10-14 games consistently we have to be in a higher tier in recruiting.
Saying any of that doesn't mean I won't be patient this year and next (less so next year), but it's okay to have higher expectations because even Freeze knows that is why he was hired.

Because a good recruiter makes them want to play here.
I know I’m going to regret saying this (don’t turn this into a Deion vs Freeze argument) but why did Travis Hunter want to play at Jackson State?

If we land top 20 this year then top 10 next year I'll feel OK about it. However. I'm really not sure we have the NIL to be in the top 5 consistently. I try not to get to worked up about recruiting anymore. Losing Cam Coleman was kind of a reminder after I got more excited with the transfer portal class.

We’ll be in the top 12 this year. And we don’t know if Saban pulled off a quicker turnaround…Freeze hasn’t started a season yet, and hasn’t had a full recruiting cycle at Auburn yet.

Freeze and his staff are recruiting while we sleep and know a hell of a lot more than we do.
We lost one recruit (to a man who is desperate to keep his job...$$$) and the sky is falling.
With NIL coming in to play, Gus and Harsin losing relationships with high schools it is going to take some time. Hell, Harsin never contacted Blocton who a brother was playing here. This can't be fixed in 1-2 years.
Like Jonesy stated these kids want to see what the product looks like this year.
Let this Staff do their thing and support them...
Do any of you contribute to the NIL to help this staff and Auburn compete? Even if it is $50 a month every penny helps.
We should have a top 100 commit this Saturday. Hope this slows the negative waves down.

They put all their NIL into one player. Auburn can’t do that. Every kid we’re recruiting has an NIL offer from somewhere that we have to match or beat.
I also don’t think we “lost” Cam Coleman. Have heard from a couple of people the staff had slowed on him due to discipline issues at Auburn’s camp last month.
