I'm trying to temper my excitement but I'm excited about Ashford... and I was/am still a bit apathetic about the state of the program right now.
Ability to extend plays, speed, chasing the play as a QB to block a safety... He had limited time but his legs are good enough to make defenses account for him.

That one play made me really buy into Robby. Hope he really gets a shot at QB1.

The second string QB who got beat out by TJ FINLEY in fall camp is going to save Auburn football?
Can’t wait to hear from you in three months.

Auburn has sat back too long and watched Bama turn into an an empire, now UGA is too, meanwhile we’re doing nothing to get to their levels. It would be nice to wake up for the Iron Bowl and DSOR knowing we have a chance. Boosters, AD’s, fans can’t get on the same page.
We need a strong football coach. Gus was getting there from 09-13, but faltered off, and the program became stagnant.
But the feel of a tailgate now does not feel like it did 15 years ago. I will say Auburn should be viewed as a very attractive head football coaching job, because there’s an entire fanbase starving for a head coach that will get us back to the top championship levels.

If the power brokers could ever get on the same page for and extended amount of time. Dye Jr., Raine ect. Need to gather round the table down at the farm and get this heading in the right direction for the future of the program. If I had the financial capacity of a few of those men I’d do it for the sake of the program…

This shitshow isn’t getting fixed until they are gone along with Nick Saban.

Hear me out, what if, the GOB have taken a liking to Harsin even though that's not who they initially wanted and this is all in our heads.

A lot of everything in this world is in our head. Never as bad as it seems. Never as good as it seems. And then there is the media. Screw the media. Screw the outsiders. Screw the people in the know that say vague things like tug of war. Vague shite creates narratives. I still don’t even really know why I hate Tim Jackson but it has been planted over and over in my head that he will drive the Auburn AD to to the pits.

If that was the case we wouldn’t be sitting at 60th in recruiting rankings. No one’s willing to pay big money for top 50-100 recruits.

Probably your best post.

Maybe you've just aged out of it a bit. I think that's what happened to me.
Plus all the bullshite that comes with sports these days. All the socio/political bullshite, all the ridiculous overhyping of everything like 12 year olds.
The fact that grown people act like they do over sports annoys the living crap out of me..
I'm trying to be interested in it, but it's very hard.

I could be wrong but the theme seemed to be control of the offense a little more than physical ability. I have no idea how this plays out. Ashford is still very raw but could very well improve.

That's been the message. There could also be a bunch of dynamics here. Ashford is a transfer who just came in. TJ is established. We had our starter leave during the offseason. It's tough to start a freshman who has never played a game ahead of a guy who's spent a couple of years in the locker room with his teammates. It's also tough to know exactly what you have from a dual threat QB because a lot of what they can do doesn't show up in normal practice situations.

I genuinely think 3/4th's of the noise is BS. I think the boosters at AU are marginally more meddling than at most schools, but that's as far as I'll say.
