Says he would coach DL if we don't get Rocker. TEs if we do.

That would be ridiculous.

How is a coach that has been coaching DL nearly all his life just going to automatically make the switch to the offensive side and coach TEs? We'd have the worst TEs in the country.

That doesn't fly. If we were to land Rocker AND Garner, I think it would be a move to strictly make him the recruiting coordinator. And that'd be fine with me.

He has to coach a position... I doubt we get either one though.

Garner has coached TEs at both Auburn and Tennessee in the past (for around 7 years). He's no novice at the position.

Oh. Didn't know that. My bad. I had only heard of him as a D-line coach.

Still, it's odd to go back and forth between both sides of the ball.

Unusual, but not odd if you can pull it off. Apparently Garner is a pretty well-rounded coach.

Yea, I'm not saying it can't happen, but I would be suprised, if Garner leaves UGA for a sideway move. They got it rolling over there and he has never seemed to be one those "coming home" type guys.

This, especially since he's done this with us before.

Would be surprised but happy if Gardner came home. Been at UGA for a long time. 13-14 years.

The Bama spin machine is already at work.

if the money's right, it could happen.... he might not get along with grantham, and their DL seems to consistently underperform (including this year).

I'd still be pretty shocked if it happened.

Agree, I think we could get him, if he wasn't real happy with TG and we step up with the money.

It looks like he is currently making $275,000 as the DL/assistant HC. I think Trooper was making 350,000 as the assistant HC.

Gus just fired all the grad assistants and quality control staff

quote:

Gus Malzahn fired graduate assistants Al Pogue (special teams), Tony Gilbert (linebackers/DL), Aairon Savage (defensive backs) and Jeff Castle (offense), all quality control and assistant football operations this morning. So Scott Fountain, Director of Player Personnel and Chad Lunceford, Director of Scouting, are the only staff remaining from the previous regime.
