no clue. I'd imagine most of the spots will be filled by the end of the year. If they aren't filled by first of Jan, then the rest will be hired after NSD (like Thigpen from UNC).

A guy like Rocker wouldn't be available until 12/30, but I'd think it would be a week or two until we heard anything official... that's why I'm doubtful TR is coming back to AU. he may have serious interest, but the odds he'll still have NFL options available at the end of the year is high, IMO.

I'd be willing to bet we will pay more than most NFL teams (in the 350-400k$ a year range) to get him

It is possible he could use this for two years to step to a DC position in CFB as well.

Any word on how he enjoys coaching in the NFL vs CFB?

I dont' know.

I think his motivational style fits better in college than the pros (where it would appear to be more technique-driven), but I don't know... people seemed to think he didn't care for recruiting (it's obviously a 24/7 deal), but NFL assistants put in tons of hours as well.

I think it'll come down to what his goals as a coach are.

Rocker's switch to the NFL was puzzling, IMO. If anyone remembers, Rocker had a lot of issues with how Chizik structured the program, which was published several times during the 2009 spring training. I'm wondering if Rocker took the Titans job to get out from under Chizik because its not like he got a pay raise that Auburn was unwilling to match. Could also be why Chizik hired a guy that coached under him previously as Rocker's replacement.

I've heard people rumor that he didn't like recruiting. Any truth to that?

Also, I realize we are all on the Rocker train but is he truly as dominant as a DLine coach as we think?

Hiring Pelton was strange, as well... we were coming off a NC, we pay coaches top dollar, and we go out and get a guy with very little experience coaching at a much lower level. Rocker had solid experience at two other SEC West schools, as well as Troy.... bringing in Pelton was a pretty costly mistake (not that it would've changed things all that much).

When we were hangng out with a few defensive lineman they said that Pelton let them do whatever they wanted to in practice. Said there was zero intensity

I questioned Pelton from the start as well, and felt we made an error in that hire.

I don't know if he likes it or not. He's not exactly a great salesman, though. Which is fine so long he produces draft picks and solid lines.

Yes it is. EagleDamnWar said so, and he's telling our recruits so.

I believe him.

Some people seem to think Tracy Rocker is some phenom recruiter.

I feel like people are putting him on a bit higher pedestal than he deserves in the AU fanbase

I don't know whether Rocker was a good recruiter or not, but I have to give him some credit for the DLine play while he was coaching it. It wasn't just Fairley, but solid play from Blanc and Clayton that I felt was good as well. How much can be attributed to Rocker, or to them being seniors? I can't honestly answer that, but I do remember most everyone praising Rocker at the time.

Contrast Rocker's time as DL coach to what Pelton put on the field, and it's difficult not to have praise for Rocker. Do I feel he is the bestest ever? No, but he looks to do a real solid coaching job.

Asked (on Birmingham radio) if he's waiting on guys who are preparing for bowl games: "There are guys who are still doing that. We want to have our staff put together before by the time we have an official visit weekend in January. It could be quicker than that. I understand that there's a time factor. It's going extremely well. We're getting a great response. We're going to get some great coaches here."

Also ...

"We've had some very good discussions with some great coaches. There's great interest. We're going to get a phenomenal staff here that's going to represent Auburn well and that people are going to be very excited about."

Scout is saying J.B. Grimes is a real possibility as OL coach... was at Ark State with Malzahn... has also coached at Arkansas, Va Tech, and Miss State.
