There’s a lot to like about Napier’s resume... he’d be on my short list

Any noise on Gus’ job status actually being in question? The thread length here is getting wild

Gus: “Looking forward to next year.”

21,000,000 has a way of immunizing him.

You mean the game he made a tough choice and won? In that instance its better to take the safety and back them up further than risk a block punt or return for TD. He made the call because he long snapper was having a horrible game and had 2 previous bad snaps.

You’re right.

The long snapper literally gave up 14 points.

I remember an Auburn guy having a bad snap against Tennessee in 1989. I think it may have gone through the end zone.

It really wasn't that dumb, they just didn't have much of an option. Risky, yes, but all things considered his options were limited.

The long snapper had already snapped one punt over the punter's head leading to a TD, snapped another over the punter's head leading to a safety, and almost snapped one over the field goal holder's head causing him to have to try and scramble and missed out on the extra point I believe it was.

Frankly I doubt i'd have let the kid snap another one either.

Nope that would be our offensive genus being dumb by always running in the middle after a 1st down and playing an injured RB over and over again.

I wish Gus would take chances, I remember with Tubs if we kicked after halftime you always had to be on the look out for the on side kick.

lol Napier gave app state 2 pts and the ball 20 yards away from where he just snapped it. Oh yeah, and now they only need a fg to put it into OT.

Bo Nix averages over 30 yards a punt from the shotgun.

lmfao every one of you would crucify Gus, rightfully, for such a dumbass decision

It was absolutely a peculiar decision, but even being in that spot in the first place is a mid-major football scenario. Some of you are too accustomed to watching SEC-level play wherein you don't have to coach around whether or not the snapper can even snap the ball properly. The question is whether or not you think he'd be giving away free safeties with the game on the line with Auburn's roster - I don't believe he would, because that scenario would not occur at this level of play.

I dont remember which game it was but I remember Tubs making the same call at Auburn, I think he was up by 6 at the time.

It was the 3-2 Miss State game. Took the safety and gave them the 2 points. I think.

Wasn’t that safety a holding call in the endzone

hmmm, you're right... i didn't think of it that way

i guess it was my mistake for thinking a D1 football player could pooch kick it 20 yards from the shotgun

Only SEC-level players can pull off something as difficult as this

The announcer sort of overrated the pooch kick.

Spurrier literally kicked a field goal to beat Auburn on the last play of the game 30-27.

Trask pooch kick was when gators were up 31-13.

Different level of impact.

That was the ‘99 MSU game.

Would have worked out if we hadn’t let their freaking LB return the subsequent free kick 40 yards. And then have them complete the game winning TD in the final seconds by somehow throwing the ball through one of our DBs midsection.

Found it on YouTube

AU had the ball with a first down at the MSU 35, leading by 13 points, with under 5 minutes to play in the game. And lost.
