We are playing at home against Bama's backup QB. They are banged up and young on defense. We may be favored in this game.
If Gus can't win this one, fire him.
Anybody opposed to this line of thinking?

I was saying this last night. If he can’t win this one, he should just leave.

I believe it will take several breaks for us to win this one. What makes you think we will be favored?

According to who/what? You think the $ wasn’t there when our now departed leader inked the deal? How foolish a notion with such high stakes...

Luke, I think it is more than just having the money. Just because you have the money to do something, it does not make it OK to spend it. If Auburn somehow wins the IronBowl and bowl game, we will be a 10 win team which had huge obstacles. I think you know them. How can you justify spending 30 million dollars to get ride of that coach with not plan who will take over. Its just not that easy. If we were a 6-6 team, then its a different situation. You have to be able to see that

I love how everyone here is so protective of other people's money. $13M would be due to Gus almost immediately. I think that is possible. The paying two coaches thing is very common, no big deal. You just need to determine whether competing for championships is worth a little extra coin for a few years...
I say yes...

They still have tons more talent than we do.

Lots of ifs. Losing to Alabama this year should be the nail in the coffin.
I'll concede firing him if we win your aforementioned games is asinine, but thinking he deserves more time if he loses to a depleted Alabama at JHS is equally so.

With all due respect you and I both know he isn’t going to get any better.... regarding the donor class buyout, don’t step up and say you’ll cover the bill and then crawfish when it’s obvious the program is in decline.

By a long shot.

Maybe because that is not true

Yeah
I think evidence points to the program being very stagnant, rather
Whatever happens in the next two games will probably dictate the consensus on whether we're up down or sideways, although in reality I don't think it will tell us much. I doubt Gus will ever crash the program, but if he's going to get out of this rut it'll probably take a season or two to have any really confidence he's made progress as a coach.

Can we win? Absolutely.
Will we? Maybe. Tua being out helps, although I'd prefer he was playing. Their defense is nowhere near elite. We have to find some sort of offense, which doesn't seem that likely. If it does, though, look out. I fully expect Mac to have a long day.
Also, it'd be really cool if we could get a fricking holding call.

Upvote for a damn holding call or two on Brown.

Win or get fired.
No fricking excuses

yea, I think we are spinning our wheels some but this year is not over. Id still like to see it play out before we decide if it was a success or not.
And we are kind of in a area where the "next step" is a tough one. WE are handling teams that we should beat, the next step is consistently beating programs that we are equally talented as or less talented as. Thats a tough step but it is where we are.
