If that’s is your takeaway from this, then you are very much missing the point.

The more I think about it, I really do hope they give Napier a good close look.

I honestly don’t know much about him. He beat Campbell didn’t he? He was a Bama assistant but that’s all I know.

I like him based on Napier isnt the other names that are being thrown out.

Looking at potential candidates, one thing that really stands out is the $2.5 million salary. There’s a lot of good, talented defensive coaches around the country not being paid anywhere near that amount. The inflation of his salary over the years has gotten to a “promote or move on” level from a business standpoint.

Of course we promised Steele a fair shake in the interview process. We’ve already guaranteed his salary and we need someone to hold down the fort. If he’s not promoted, he’ll be sent packing I’m 99% sure.

Most of those stud WRs Bama has had the past few years, Napier was the one who recruited them, so he can recruit. He also looks like a program builder from what he’s doing at ULL. And also, he’d be cheap to get.

Well, the old saying "defense wins championships" is not proving to be true lately.

Look no further than last year's LSU squad. That defense was just kind of halfway decent for most of the season while the offense was breaking the scoreboard nearly every time they played. Bama this year started out shaky on defense. They've gotten better as the season went along, but I would probably attribute that to the talent they have. Not some great coaching job by Pete Golding. Meanwhile, their offense is damn near unstoppable.

The game has changed the past 5 to 10 years and it is all about the offense. More specifically QB play and WRs who can't be guarded. The days of a power run game to control clock are a thing of the past I'm afraid.

If i may, i believe he has a genuine appreciation for your post's lack of baseless, asinine speculation. While opinion, it seems to be your genuine observation that actually adds value.

OK

I just think he makes good posts. Thought out and he seems to mean what he posts. Instead of just throwing shite at a wall and seeing what sticks like so many here

Although, it may be totally sarcastic, I'll continue to post whether anyone likes my posts or not. I enjoy everything Auburn and there seems to be some decent posters here. I'm glad I found this place because reddit and the other AU message boards became unbearable for me.

In retrospect, what year should we have fired Gus, and who could have been a realistic choice for replacement?
