After that dance, there is no way we should have fired Gus

Living in Big 12 country, I watch more of that conference than I probably would otherwise. Iowa St is a tough place to win. What Campbell has done there is impressive. Winning 35 games at Toledo is impressive as well.
Interesting that he played DL in college, but has made his climb up the coaching ladder as an offensive coach starting with OL and RB’s then eventually OC.
We could definitely do much worse.

The Kevin Steele tenure is starting out great.. at the signing day press conference he said they "had fun" trying to flip recruits from other schools.
"We had so much fun that we had two guys flip. Now, they flipped back, but we had them flipped."

It's gonna be Jeff Grimes. Most Auburn thing ever. However even when he was OL coach I always thought he would be a good head coach in the future. Just hope he helps with recruiting and lets his OC run the show. However his BYU offense this year was fire but the QB did a lot in the O.

Anyone else just get an email from Auburn asking for money?
Yes

I do believe we'd be better off hiring a G5 guy like Napier or Chadwell and letting them build the program for five years completely free from booster interference.
To start, everyone always says Auburn needs to get away from the booster interference but I think we know that is never going to happen.
I was thinking about your G5 idea. Same as many have had. And not just G5 guys but guys from smaller programs lately who have been such hot commodities.
In recent years, who came from one of those small programs that was the "next hot coach" has lived up to the hype and idea that they could run a big program?
Im not downing this idea, Im just thinking about who was hot and did not perform and who did?
Just off the top of my head. Add if you will
Scott Frost UCF - Nebraska - Meh
Justin Fuente Memphis - Virginia Tech - Meh
Tom Herman Houston - Texas - Meh
PJ Fleck WM - Minnesota - Not meh but not great either
Mike Norvell Memphis - Florida St -May be too early to tell
Who else you got?

I have not read every post in this thread.
But just because Oregon offers an extension it probably won't match what Auburn is offering.
Cristobal makes 2.5 now. An extension will probably bring him up to around 4.
Auburn will start at 6 with room to go up.
It is not in Oregon's culture to pay that much for a coach.

The hair appears to not have been tampered with for the better!
I don't love that he is wearing a suit, that is what our next coach would wear.
I was hoping for a hoodie and hat.
I think we are okay.

I have just asked what has he done that makes everyone think he is worth 30 million dollars we could be spending?
How many a year are we talking? I’ve already said I don’t want a bidding war for Mario when I can get Napier for half off. I think most around here agree too

actually hope we get him because he seems to be the #1 target and he wins like a mofo. Im just questioning why he is the #1 guy?
Because who else is there? Napier, Tom Allen. Running out of names to put ahead of him. You keep acting like we’re skipping over some big list.
Everyone knows he didn’t build Oregon’s but he also didn’t inherit Chip Kelly’s Oregon. He took a struggling program and got them a P5 conference championship. That’s pretty good. He’s a hell of a recruiter which is known and proven and something we need.

Good point.
I hope we've at least reached out to gauge his interest. He has been much more successful than our other 2 Iowa State steals....

Cristobal is gone, fellas.
If it wasn't a done deal, they wouldn't make a dog and pony show of it.
Cross him off the list. We are left with Napier, Steele, and Freeze. Maybe Sark or Kiffin.
