You can’t compare Freeze to the hiring of Bruce Pearl. Auburn basketball could afford to take a flyer on Pearl because it’s traditionally one of the worst basketball programs in the conference.

Auburn football on the other hand cannot afford the risk and baggage that Freeze brings. If AU were to hire him and he demonstrates that he hasn’t learned from his pst then the program is in major jeopardy.

All. of. this.

I am reading between the lines, but PM is dropping hints almost like he expects Steele to be promoted and keep most of the staff together

KNOW THIS AUBURN BOARD

If we fired Gus just to keep Steele and the rest of the staff, then I will lead a riot at Allen Green's house

There is no way in hell. I mean no freaking way.

ETA If that was the case, he wouldn't have the Interim tag.

If we promote Steele in anything other than an interim role this program doesn’t care about winning

The excitement for Auburn football would be even worse than if we had kept Malzahn. There is no way.

If we promote Kevin Steele and that’s the move, I have lost all confidence in anything Auburn sports related.

I’d rather we whiff on the whole hot board and hire Bill Clark. And that is saying something.

Steele wouldn't even be on the list. If we got absolutely no one, and Steele was the only guy, I might just pull the plug.

We didn’t just spend $21,000,000 to promote the DC. That’s not happening and PM is absurd for suggesting that

Let me ask you this. Was Steele on the PSU staff and saw stuff we won't talk about?

I wonder which coach will leverage this opening to get the largest increase in their existing contract? They better start moving if Auburn truly has their guy already.

Well his negative tone regarding Malzahn last week was eye opening.
