Here’s the thing. Other people are talking from other programs and they all keep mentioning Kevin Steele. We get our best info about Auburn from other programs. It looks like it’s heading that way.

You already had steele. Why fire Gus just to promote Steele makes no sense at all. Plus you could get another coach that would keep Steele around.
Powers that be didn't like Gus and finally had their chance to get rid of him. That was the main goal.

There is absolutely one money person that wants Steele, but he has proven that he is an imbecile when it comes to an opinion on Football.

If this Steele shite is true, it will truly be program suicide.

I am choosing to believe that this Steele "smoke" is a throw off or just pure misinformation from our idiot insiders.

I will come completely unhinged if it is Steele. I hated Gus Malzahn as our football coach for the past 5 years. Keeping Malzahn would be better than hiring Steele. I would rather hire Will Muschamp than Kevin Steele.

This stuff can't be true, it just can't be.

Art Briles just resigned from him HC position, FWIW.

Not that that has anything to do with this thread.

Yep. Every single one of them has been wrong pretty much every time. Hell, even when changing coordinators they were completely wrong. They are all still convinced Jimbo is coming here because his wife loves Auburn.
Generally I agree, but there's a lot of smoke here. Its not just insiders.. its people like Philip Marshall, and I know people's opinion of him but I don't think he would put his reputation on the line and completely make up a story. They aren't even hinting about it anymore.. they are straight up saying Steele is the guy that the powers that be want.

This is true I have nothing else to do right now, so I'm all about it lol.

If it's Steele instead of a home run hire it'll be a strike out looking with the bases loaded.

And I remember visually watching him lose it during the Chiz era. He was throwing darts hoping something would stick

I don't disagree, but he seems very sure of this. The money guys are the one's pushing for Steele as well and they usually win out..

More from the question and answer thread on 247..

Steele has been top choice for 2 years running now.
Steele was set to be hired before Gouge decided he wanted a committee
Money is an issue and playing into this.

Looks like thats the end of the thread.

Steele feels like a smokescreen. I refuse to believe our AD is so inept that we fire our HC with a massive buyout only to promote our DC. Don't get me wrong...they make wft decisions all the time, but promoting Steele would be on a whole other level

Just feels like if it was Steele there'd be no interim tag. If you already knew it was him why not give him the title to help in recruiting?

Yeah I haven’t seen a single AU fan excited about Steele. But if it’s a smokescreen, I wonder why. Maybe the hire is underwhelming.
