latest update from PM, so probably wrong:
Focus is on Venables
Allen Greene didn't tell coaches they couldn't pick their staffs
If Venables doesn't work out, we are either back to Steele or new names which could include Neal Brown and Harsin

Getting back to Steele was the plan all along. This is like a sick psy-op to make us beg for Steele in the end.
Prove me wrong.

What a time to be alive...
Venables: a guy that has avoided HC jobs like the plague for twenty years.
Steele: No explanation needed as to why he sucks.
Brown: Great at Troy, 10-11 at WVU in a shitty conference.
Harsin: Former Boise QB and assistant. Born and raised in Boise, ID. His only venture south he followed Gus as Ark St HC, went 7-5 in his only season there.

Harsin?
Where did that name come from?
He's so totally rooted in Boise, I don't see him wanting to get into the SEC, plus he has zero ties to this part of the country...

Unbelievable! None of those are good candidates for a top SEC school. Get MC or Napier or just get GM back and let him fire Steele/RG

Because he has a connection to Gus in the past. I guarantee it.

Brent seems like a good candidate

PAM always says what Tim J wants him too.
Quit this BS of going the 2nd tier, go get the right one and make it happen. Means guys may not have control but so be it!

What do you think happened then?
I have no idea and neither does anyone in the news or this board. I find it extraordinarily hard to believe that a career minded coach like Napier (who's resume is the standard ladder climbing resume of all aspiring HCs) would turn down a big 6 SEC job over ULL. The pay for the position would easily be in the 4 million range. He's currently the highest paid SunBelt coach at $875,000/year. Boosters or not, that's a 4x increase.
All the information flowing out in the media is bullshite. I don't believe any of it. We have said repeatedly that Auburn isn't like Alabama with regards to insiders.

The stuff that has been said the entire time is what is happening.
Some of you are so obtuse, its absurd.

I mean either we offered him and did something to frick it up, or we didn't offer. Either way its fricking dumb

Venables isn't horrible. Just a lot of unknowns with him never making the jump to HC.
I believe he also has two sons on the Clemson roster, idk if he would make the move now.

Harsin and Venables would pull me back in

BTW PM and Ron Sanders could not be further away from each other on information

If I'm a principled man, and I'm already making a lot more money than I need in order to be comfortable, I don't care how much you're going to pay me, I'm not leaving a job that I enjoy, at a place where I have a secure future, and relocating my family hundreds of miles away to an unknown situation where I have to attempt to please seven or eight different egotistical, meddling people, not knowing who my boss will be next month or next year, and constantly look over my shoulder
Oh, and leave a school where I can easily compete for conference championships every year and take one of the most difficult jobs in college football in terms of schedule
Nope. Ima stay

I don't disagree.
However-

$875,000/year
Is a shite load of money. I can definitely see someone career minded holding out for another year or two for the right fit, especially with the apparent shite show that we are trying to be right now.
Coach O goes 8-4 next year, and Billy Napier will be the first call they make.

I asked Sanders about the interim president thing he keeps bringing up with Gouge, and why they took the title of interim off of him.
His reply was "phillip said that's what he wanted. I don't know why"

Also fun fact: Bo is being a lil bish and demanding that Rodney Garner be kept on staff.
We're finally reaping the rewards of enabling this bullshite "bring em' back home" culture.
