quote:Probably the same day. That means they fired Gus for Steele. After interviews he would be just viewed as a last resort bc everyone turned down what they heard.
Would the melt be greater if we had hired Steele the same day we fired Gus or once we hire Steele the Sunday after Christmas after an extended search with "interviews"

Why would Riley interview in Dothan AL and not, you know, over Zoom?
I’ll never understand why these Twitter accounts exist

Decided he was tired of getting beat up by the SEC and wants to have an SEC team of his own?

I don’t think you can hire a coach virtually. I couldn’t. Not for this big of a job.
That’s why info hasn’t come out at this point and it seems like forever, but its only been a few days. Imagine if one of our coordinators had it leak he was interviewing elsewhere the weekend before early signing day. We would tar and feather his arse out of town. Some coaches want to complete this years commitment to the young men they recruited, the university that gave them their shot and coach the games this weekend. If our university ruined that for them in some way, they might have to deny it publicly. Then we’ve got a Saban situation and honestly, that stink has never really left Saban even though he’s been successful. Or worse yet, they decide to go elsewhere. It isn’t professional and honestly, our fans should expect more out of Greene and his department.
Waiting past this weekend for a playoff/championship game or bowl game which would happen 3 weeks Monday next is too long. A lot of the good candidates are playing this weekend, so I expect them to interview sometime next week with a decision likely coming middle to end of next week.
Lincoln Riley is prepping for a championship tomorrow. He’s not swinging through Alabama to hang out with Jimmy Rane.

Some are melting because we “Didn’t” go behind Gus’s back in the dead of night and have a coach lined up ready to hire. Some that believe we “Did” go behind his back are melting about the possible choice. It’s melt, melt, melt everywhere you look

Hopefully they just promised Steele he’d get an interview and he won’t be seriously considered after talking to all those awesome candidates

So AU people (Ranes Harbert and the rest) believe you can treat the HC job like it’s Indeed.com?
I’m close to being done.

He could win 10 straight C-USA titles and would still be less qualified for the job than an SEC position coach.
If Clark is serious about the Auburn or another SEC job, he needs to be trying to land a DC job in the conference.
This is so fricking stupid lol

quote:Just getting caught up, but respectfully I disagree with this. You'll get no argument from me about Kodi.. I think he's ok, but thats it.
I love that we have Garner, Kodi, TWill, and Caddy on staff from a fan nostalgia perspective.
But being realistic and wanting to win championships, Garner is the only one with any business coaching at AU.
TWill is one of the top recruiters at the position in the country and completely rebuilt our LB room. Anyone remember the Jake Holland days? He's had Tre Williams, Deshaun Davis, Darrell Williams, KJ Britt, Chandler Wooten, Owen Pappoe, Zakoby McClain with Wesley Steiner and Cam Riley as freshman this year. Speaking of Pappoe and Zakoby.. they both finished in the top 10 in the country in tackles this year despite both having to play out of position. And just to top everything off, despite all the will he be fired/won't he TWill was still is position to land a 5* LB and one of the top rising LB prospects in the country.
Caddy has only been here a couple a years..in that time he's recruited Tank Bigsys, had Armoni Goodwin wrapped up until Gus got fired, and had us in very good position for top RB Emmanuel Henderson next year. He was in the process of turning it into one of the most stacked RB rooms in the country.
You left off McGriff, but he's helped get Carlton Davis, Jamel Dean, Iggy, Daniel Thomas and soon to be McCreary into the league.. Pritchett, Simpson and Sherwood look like they could be next, and again before recruiting took a dive with Gus getting fired he had us in the running for some of the top DB prospects in the country.
If we had any kind of stability around them then those 3 would be cleaning up on the recruiting trail and all of them have proven they are good coaches. If you think a new coach should clean house that's fine and a completely reasonable take, but those guys are as legit as it gets.
