I mean it’s quite literally a drug. Yeah. It can cause issues. Anyone that pretends otherwise is just as dumb as someone that asserts it’s harmless.

I’ve been both a smoker and a drinker in my 40 years on earth. If I had an option RIGHT NOW I’m replacing my nightly beer with a nightly joint.

All things in moderation.

I liked the other better.

Having experienced both I think it’s ridiculous how we as a society treat one compared to the other.

I do not use May Jane it (been over 30 years), it is not good for most people, but is NOT a performance enhancing drug. Don't like heavy drinking, but don't want our athletes tested for it.

But face it most of our athletes do partake and it was a weapon against them. I go back to Nick Marshall who was arrested (I was OK with that), but folks wanted him banned from playing. (I am not good with that).

Why? What is the benefit to citizens or society?

I mean if you look where it has been legalized crime has increased, other drug use increased… same as areas known for high alcohol use and abuse. So don’t come at me with the it’s not as bad as alcohol. Both are bad.

Look a vehicle deaths among young black men in the areas where weed is legal. Not saying it only affects young black men but look at the massive increase in auto deaths since “legal” inception. It’s like a 40 percent increase just from that demographic.

Enforcing those laws is expensive. Really expensive. Especially considering it’s relatively innocuous as far as drugs go.

I’d there a proven correlation? Opiate use was already skyrocketing and still is even in areas where it remains controlled.

Where’s this study?

Just for giggles, alcohol has lead to 13,000 deaths alone per year over the last 2 years. Why should it still be legal?

The only argument you can make there is social inertia.

Not to mention the amount of lives ruined due to non-violent felony convictions from it.

We lost the war on drugs a long time ago.

I’m 29, been smoking (almost every day) since I was 16. I graduated college with honors. Workout 5 days a week. Have a great job. Smoking has done nothing but helped my mental through the years.

Never had any of these psycho issues. So many of you are so wrong & misinformed

So do you believe making weed legal will lower the cost of drug enforcement or are you saying just open the door and let it all be legal and use those resources for something else?

I don't use it but can see the value for medicinal purposes. I watched a close family friend die of cancer some years ago and Marijuana helped with his pain and nausea from chemotherapy. An injured player might be better off with Marijuana for pain than with opioids.

There is no “might” about it.

A lot of athletes have made this argument.

"Oh you're hurt? Take this highly addictive opioid."

And get a lot of garbage cases out of the legal system that needlessly bog it down.

Certain things do need to remain controlled because the societal harm of those being legal is high. Take fentanyl for example.

Casual usage of weed has some unsavory effects but for the most part it’s just gonna be a late night trip to Taco Bell for a burrito or something. Casual usage of fentanyl often leads to Narcan (if you’re lucky).

So you feel like if they totally legalize weed, people are just gonna get High in their backyard and occasionally go out for a beef and bean burrito?

And you don’t feel like all those freed up law-enforcement hours will now be used to arrest people for more DWI?

I guess my biggest issue with legalizing weed is that I don’t have faith in people. Apparently some of you guys have more faith in the human race and I do.

And like I said, I partake.
