Its a little hard to disagree with this. I wish it wasn't true but other than Ryan Davis, the WRs are vastly under utilized with a passing QB.

Of course he always covered, we only run 4 routes, not hard to defend if the defense knows what we will run based on formation and personell packages.

This was an issue last year also

Eventually, elite wr and qbs will stop coming here once they realize auburn is a black hole for development.

Shades of 2012, the only difference is this team is more talented than the 2012 team.

There have been a lot of dumb posts on this board recently, but this post might be the dumbest. Don't blame Gus if the true freshmen outclass the more senior members on the team and take playing time away from them - that does not fall on Gus. Broussard sucked anyways - I was never really that impressed with him. Broussard, if you are reading this GFY.

We lost to the #6 ranked team in the country by 1 point - we already beat another top ten ranked team in Washington. We are currently ranked #9 and you guys want to Blame Gus for that? LOLs.

If you have to go back 10 years to a Tuberville team then you didn’t make your point. I’m sorry, boo.

I said "shades" of 2012, not a full blown 2012 melt. This team will win 8-9 games this year.

I was being truthful assclown. I cannot really recall ever seeing NCM run a screen in 3 years.

And you never would because that wasn't his position.

If I were a defense playing against us I wouldn't let RD breath off the LOS. That would completely take away our screens. If i'm playing NCM or Slayton give them a 10 yard cushion and you're good because they don't run anything underneath.

This is why we average only about 20 points a game against teams with a pulse

I've seen several post saying that Stidham struggles in big games but the deck is stacked against him when the passing scheme is shite

I mean Ryan Davis set a receptions record last year with 84 catches

After 3 games here's the team leaders in receptions:

R. Davis: 13
Cox: 7
Slayton: 6
KMart: 6
Schwartz: 5
Williams: 4
NCM: 2

2017:
Davis: 84
Stove: 29
Slayton: 29
Hastings: 26
KJ: 24
NCM: 16

Gus seems to like the smaller, quicker WR's. The problem is I think everyone and their mom knows we're going to be utilizing screens, as evidenced by the LSU jumping routes and being all over our WR's. I wish we could've used NCM's size in some deep man-to-man situations but it seems like Gus is in no hurry to update the passing scheme.

His point is still valid.. check out Gus WR's production in the NFL.. They don't develop here at all.

Now I personally don't care how they develop or if top tier guys come and succeed and go on to the NFL at all as long as we find ways to score.. but yeah at some point it has an effect on recruiting.
