My thoughts, and apology for boasting we would have a great game...

I honestly thought we would perform better, destined to be Charlie Brown when it comes to this team it seems. Some notes:
I questioned our performance when in zone last week, its obvious we dont know how to play it, we made the QB look like Montana throwing to a bunch of Gronks. When big lumbering, awkward TEs can get open by 15 yards against some very athletic backs....its the scheme fellas, not the personnel.
Smoke is a hotdog, he needs to stick to assignments.
Kobe made a bonehead mistake, but he was a darn good QB in high school. He had the sense not to throw in the flat (the designed play) and had he not fumbled, he had a lot of daylight on the backside.
Can we shut up about Brahms now, the boy was knocking some heads at the second level last night kudos.
Bo just is not accurate on medium to long throws, That beauty to Kobe down the center of the field. Since when does a QB throw a back shoulder pass to a receiver on a skinny post in the middle of the field? I think Kobe went up and got it and made it look like Bo intended to throw it there. Those rainbows, I have no idea what was happening there, maybe his shoulder was hurt.
We had receivers open, go look at the tape. Ask yourself, are our receivers less athletic than their lumbering TEs? No its the terrible zone defense for us and the lack of Bo seeing beyond Jackson when we are on offense.
Should we have run more. The run works when you can keep the lbs somewhat honest by threatening the middle with passes, which we did far less than needed. Im not certain this was Bobos fault, as inaccurate as Bo was I think he was afraid Bo would be throwing hard fast ones if we tried it.
Corch commented and is ABSOLUTELY correct, when we showed zone they passed almost every time. Mason should have not even come into the game with that gameplan, much less sticking to it for the game. It was obvious against Al State, when they too completed over a dozen passes in a row, that we had no clue how to run an effective zone.
We have the best running back combo in the SEC, if we can figure out how to throw across the middle to back off their front seven, we will be competitive for the rest of the season.

Need to pound tater and scrap whatever defensive plan that was.
Also never want to see the WR reverse play that Hudson fumbled

Absolutely. Until they stack the box, take what they are giving us. Run run run baby

I dont really hate the play. I just hate when we did it. We had been successful running the ball in the 1st half. There was no need at a gadget play right there. Just come out with play action or run the ball
I think some people will come down off the roof there were on the past two weeks and see that we have a few very good offensive guys then a bunch of very mediocre guys. Offensive line played well last night. Penn St has a good front. I thought they made some good running holes for the backs
Nothing left to be said about that defense. Reminds me of Ted Roofs 2010 defense. Holes everywhere. We will not win many SEC games with that defense

State, mainly due to it being a home game. Ole Miss will be favored playing on our field. Arky looks solid, and LSU is in Baton Rouge. Plus, they have much more talent. Texas A&M, UGA, and ALA round out the rest of our schedule. Our defense will have to make massive improvements if we are to win 4 more games this year.

Yep. It looked like a 7 win season and that appears to be what it will be. 8 at best

You mean the team that just lost to Memphis? I love this place

1. State threw 67 passes yesterday. 2. Our defense is pretty good at stopping the run. Those two facts are undeniable. Explain how that works out to our advantage?

Sure I did. MSU is a crapshow on offense. They throw it a ton but they are also prone to making mistakes and can rarely get out of their own way.

THat's where I saw us too.
THose that kept looking at Penn St's record last year, I simply don't understand looking back.
Penn St was going to be better. Their coach has had a lot of 10+ win seasons with them.
My disappointment was in 2 areas on D and O:
On D: we never sacked their QB. Had only 1 hurry, and we had zero, I mean zero passes defended which means evidently we did play lot of zone.
Also, Our D never could hold them to FGs. so many trips we allowed them to get inside the RZ and couldn't hold them.
Ok, I lied I have more issues with the D. Last one, We never, ever covered a TE.
On O: Bo still cant throw a deep ball well. He had Robertson wide open on a streak down the sidelines and Bo let his ball fade all the way to the outside line and Robertson had no clue where the ball was..
Bo also, threw off his back foot a few times, noticed by the balls hitting the grass in front of WRs at time.
And coaching: On the 4th down play....I understand there were 4-5 options for Bo, BUT if the 1st option was the fade pass to the corner, with an unproven WR, not the tallest, and with a low percentage throw, that was NOT the right 1st option.

Laughable isn't it? This entire boo hoo session is a bunch of little girls weeping on each others shoulders. Dysfunctional is the best description for this gaggle of wet hens.
Get over the pity party.
This is the remnants of the Gus failure, Years and years of neglected pursuit of the best recruits at every position.
What exactly did you expect miracles?
Had Gus coached that team ..... Penn State wins 30-0
Shelve the rush three and put pressure on the QB. That piece of crap halfback attempted pass on the first play of the second half killed this game. That put Penn State ahead for good. Besides the fact nobody touched him and he simply dropped the ball.

We have two wins against Akron (worst team in all of football) and Alabama State. I'm curious, who do you see us confidently beating of the remaining schedule? USC, Miss State, and GA State put us at 5 wins. LSU will be played on the road in front of a very hostile crowd, and with history being a guide, we kinda have an idea how our QB play works out in that scenario. Let's say by some miracle, we beat LSU for the first time in decades on their field. Now we are at 6 wins. Are we beating Arky away, UGA, ALA, Texas A&M away, or Ole Miss to get to a 7 win, regular season?

Three of those are winnable games. OM is the least of the three, but Arkansas and A&M are both definitely winnable.
It’s not like we played some garbage team or were completely destroyed. We could and should have won last night. Let’s not give up on a season because of one road game against a team ranked in the top 10.

Standard,"I have no idea what Im talking about" Auburn board answer. Everything is Gus's fault.
Dude never lost big to a opponent like that. WTF makes you think we would have lost 30-0? Thats just stupid.
This team can win 7 games but they will have to play exceptional to beat any one else with the way the game was called and the way they played last night.
Wins
Ga State
Miss St
SC
Possible losses
Bama
UGA
Ole Miss
Texas A&M
Arkansas
LSU
I think we win one of the games in the loss category. Maybe LSU, maybe Texas AM
Do you feel like we can beat any of the others?

Agreed. The only game that was even comparable with 2017 Clemson. Gus lost it 14-6. 8 points...It was possible we'd win, but like last night never really felt like we were going to win.

Gus shite the bed against a few bowl games but OOC, we was pretty successful with him
I wanted to see our guys really gut it out late in the game last night. Like Bo did against Oregon. Nobody stepped up except our running backs. Most of that was probably due to the play calling not giving them a chance

Yea. I thought all in all they played pretty well. We just have some glaring holes and they aren't going to be fixed this year. I didn't see much different on the field than the last several years. We made some plays, but also had several costly mistakes and got lucky a few others didn't cost us more. On D we looked good at times, but couldn't get off the field. These threads seem to be holding Mason and Bobo accountable, but at some level the players are the ones most responsible.

We are going to beat LSU. No idea by how much or how, but we a much better team. We were close, really close @PSU and they were absolutely fricking pumped at 107,000 or so I believe ALL M'FING DAY and plenty more on top of that.
Great experience for everyone. It really doesn't get any better than that except a W and big fat middle finger to anyone not cheering for AU.
LSU is a shell of PSU RIGHT NOW.
I fricking hated losing to James MF Franklin much, much more than losing to PSU, their program and fans. I am still pumped that they were completely jacked to play AU. It says a lot worth saying.
WDE
I assume their return to JHS will be a white out game?
eta - I have to think that CBH wanted this win more than anyone else I can think of. Lots of "learnable moments" for everyone in the program.

This type of shite gets said every year we aren’t undefeated.
At the end of the day, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Miss St are still playing with subpar facilities and a lack of talent compared to Auburn. A&M has one blowout victory against us and mostly loses to us. Georgia and Alabama will cream us. LSU may win, but we have a shot. They suck too.
We’re not winning the West, but you’re a child throwing a tantrum if you think this is a 4 win team.

Ship!
Good description though. Loved the run defense. Losing McLain hurt. His replacement got sucked in on the goal line play and was late getting to the score off tackle.

greygoose melts hard along with a few others.
Just enjoy the show. Nothing said would appease the children anyway. It’s like leaving them to cry on the floor of Walmart while you continue to shop.
