How annoyed must the gumps be that Verne and Gary keep talking about how they've stolen our offense?

Sorry I have not been around the last couple of days. I had to log a lot of hours working the Super 7. Still not caught up on sleep.

Anyway these 2 pieces may already be posted but per JGT TAMU is out of the Boom race and per PM if Carolina actually offers HCIW that may change everything as nobody anticipated Carolina doing that at the beginning of the process.

Why would USCe offer WM HCIW after seeing him tank at HC at Florida, which is one of the better jobs in CFB?

It does sound stupid but I guess they want a good d coord so bad for the next two years they'll do whatever it takes. Even if that means will as head coach in a couple years.

Probably because they are USCe and potentially aren't confident that they'll be able to land anyone better. They may also be hoping to buy low on Muschamp and banking on him figuring out his mistakes at Florida.

It would be an obvious panic move, but you're not exactly talking about a football power program here.

But if he is smart, he would realize Gus will probably be in the NFL if he keeps winning.

Gus's age does worry me some in this thing. WM has worked for older more established coaches in the past.... tubby and brown.... even saban for that matter. Spurrier would fit more into that mold.

Except that there is zero guarantee that we would even want him as HC if that were the case. No one at Auburn is looking at this move as a "HCIW" scenario; this is nothing more than us trying to go all-out to bring in a huge name proven DC who will boost our recruiting significantly.

I don't think Muschamp is going to trade a near sure thing for the possibility that MAYBE Malzahn leaves, and MAYBE we then make him the HC. If you think about it, if Malzahn is so successful that he bolts for the NFL, don't you have to assume that we'd be able to bring in someone more proven as a HC than Muschamp?

On the other hand.....how high is the ceiling at USCe? Spurrier had the most epic run in the history of USCe. What did that get him, in the way of hardware?

ETA and errybody knows, following a legend is a no-win situation.

Noticed that Missouri's best pass rusher is out and they can still get to the qb. First thing the new DC should do is fire Garner.
