No clue. But here’s where he would get it from.

I think SWA has a lot more offensive potential than Dylan, although not near the defensive potential

SWA is good and glad we get to keep him for years.

You’re right.

I guess I just saw the missed free throws and thought of how many Cardwell missed.

Is Magwood kind of Pegues this season?

I thought he’d get some decent minutes.

Nah, he's not completely over matched like Pegues was last year. He's just playing like a freshman and needs to improve a good bit defensively. You can see flashes here and there offensively.

Most freshman don't come in like gangbusters like Tahaad did, or the two freshman for Houston have.

doubt it, Pegues was a senior and Magwood is a freshman that has room for improvement with some coaching.

A couple of random thoughts from watching the game live...

- I was expecting more from Murphy. They only ran a couple of plays for him, but he does not look comfortable with the ball. When he had other opportunities (flow of the game, or put backs, etc...), he did not go up strong except for the dunk at the end of the game. He's an adequate defender and rebounder and we badly need him on the floor because ->

- I'm not sure how much Jovic can contribute. He's a below average rebounder, extremely weak with the ball, and makes bad decisions (boneheaded turnovers, bad fouls, lane violation, etc..). It forced Hall into action playing the 5 on Defense late in the game (who looked lost a couple of times), resulting in some easy points for Houston

- Defense plays with intensity but just flat out blows many possessions. Houston had 5+/- undefended wide open 3 Point shots, and 5+ break away lay-ups/dunks either down the middle or from the baseline with no back side rotation. There were several times when the back side defender was guarding both the driving ball handler and a shooter sitting in the corner (impossible). We were not expecting this team to be great on D, but hopefully it can come around. Too many free uncontested points given up tonight.

Also many, many positives.. But would like to see Murphy be more assertive. I'm not holding my breath for any production out of Jovic, but maybe he can develop this year, as we badly need some minutes from him.

Houston has talent.
We went toe to toe, but free throws need to be made.
If Hall had not gotten hurt, things might have been different.

We get Arizona and Purdue before Christmas. We will see how we progress.

I told my wife yesterday after watching that if you put Cardwell on this team we are elite. Just having a rim protector and “captain” defensively would dramatically change the ceiling for us. Couldn’t agree more on your points especially Jovic and Murphy. Jovic looks like he needs a year to get used to the American game and Murphy I thought would be a major factor for us but seems to be pretty timid

Overton couldn’t stop a cold. He was getting beat every time to the goal.

Murphy is definitely not at 100%. He isn’t going to be an all American but he’s probably one of the best 3-4 bigs in the SEC

Unfortunately rim protection isn’t his strong suit

I wasn't happy we lost, but happy we took that team to the wire.

After almost losing to Bethune Cookman, I was really worried this wasn't a good team. Our record may not end up being that great this year, but we can compete with anyone and yesterday proved it.

Bench may be shorter than normal this year.
Need to shoot the ball better. We just haven't this year. Not from anywhere.
Murph gotta get healthy.
Guards gotta play better.
Hall gotta get healthy.

I don't think there is any doubt about this. It's basically an 8 man roster right now. Unless they have put Muschalek on scholly, we are at 11 and Simon Walker is in recovery mode after foot surgery (although I thought I heard he's participated in warm-ups?). That drags it to 10 and then Opurum isn't on the floor with a "healthy" Murphy and Bashir only getting scant minutes. I think I would at least like them to try and give Opurum 5-7 min.

Pettiford
Magwood
Overton
Freeman
Hall
SWA
Jovic
Murphy

I feel better about our team and our ability to compete after yesterday. Primary concerns now are developing a rotation and keeping key guys healthy. This isn't a FF team by any stretch but with a decent draw I can see us making the R16..... Side note I hope we have learned our lesson about late game offensive sets. Love Tahaad but finishing at the rim isn't his strength. Put him in a pick and roll where he can pull up at the elbow or hit Murphy going to the rim

Murphy doesn't have enough offense to get the ball. SWA has offense but cant hit a FT.

Truth be told only Pettway is ready for that shot since Hall was out.

Freeman is probably the next closest but he isn't even really close himself.

6 man roster.

The other two provided relief breaks and were pulled quickly

He can hit open shots in the lane if they try to blitz the screen and he's a good/willing passer if the shot isn't there for him. I'd like it more if he was a better ft shooter but without Hall on the court I believe Murphy and Tahaad in the P&R is our best offensive set.
