The one disheartening thing........we had 22 seconds and didn't get off one legit good shot.
Growing pains with a new team. Felt like we forced Tahaad a little too much there. Maybe should have found some action for Freeman and if Hall was out there that changes everything.

Will Pearl say they’re close?

When you’re taking the #1 team in the country down to the wire for your first loss, I don’t think you have to wonder if they’re close.

Not mad. They could’ve called a foul on either of our last two shots though

That was a foul under the basket in my opinion, but refs are likely to let the teams play in that situation, so I'm good.. Free throws. Free throws. Free throws.

Yeah, with Hall out Tahaad was our only true shot maker on the court at that point. Freeman isn't quite there yet, but a bit of two man game with those two would have probably been the right play.

Houston played horrible. I wouldn't read too much into barely losing to the number one team

4. Should be a fun team to watch grow over the season and go through the wars in the SEC. We should be able to compete.

This game gave me more hope than expected. I was only able to catch pieces here and there, so I will go back and rewatch it, but I didn't really expect a very close game with the defense that Houston can play and where we are right now.

It looks like we really need to develop our bench and the team needs to spend an hour a day shooting free throws.

I agree I think both teams are top 25 teams but neither are Top 5. Probably closer to 15-20ish for both

God forbid anyone be encouraged. Seeing as we left plenty of points at the FT line and had our own missed opportunities, I don’t think we hit our full potential either.

Regardless of Hall's condition our perimeter defense sucked.

Great thing is they are a freshman team and self destructed just enough to keep us in the game. Their PG drove all day against our guards but committed a rash turnover when Murphy steps out beyond the key to guard him? lol

Now is not the time to get deeply emotional and butthurt. We need thick skin because Lord knows we will need it this season.

I was encouraged by our ability to score against them. Still concerned about our defense

at you calling them a freshman team. They have 3 returning starters from their finals team from last year, two seniors and a junior. And they only have 3 freshman that got minutes. They have a more veteran team than 90% of the top 25.

Eh, Jang has some really bad basketball takes at times

Well those veterans didnt contribute a whole lot. Dont know the final numbers but at one point the freshmen contributed to 35 of their first 41 points.

Read my thread. I called it as I saw it all game long and was right.

I agree that Houston didn’t play their best game but they’ll be on the top 2 seed lines. Bet on it.

We’ve got to find a way to claw out a couple tough dubs in this nonconference schedule though because I think this group will lose a couple conference games we shouldn’t lose

We hit FT, we win.

Not sure why anyone in this thread is negative about that game. Some miserable Auburn fans.....

Possibly. But that means they got a ton better and more mature in late game situations. Murphy playing D beyond the 3 should never spook any point guard.

They always seem to be searching a little bit offensively early in the year
