I was wanting gus the whole time. He will bring us a NC by 2016 latest. Dude is a fricking genius and adjusts to his players. Cannot wait to see this team in 2013.

From AUC BM: LINK
***Jacobs said they laid out three criteria: Someone that could win, maintain academic success and a coach of great character. He said Gus had all those qualities.

***Jacobs said they have agreed to a 2.3 million contract for 5 years with Malzahn.

***Jacobs said they notified Dr. Gogue this morning that Malzahn was choice.

***Jacobs said we have some passionate fans that love Auburn and Auburn football. He said he knows that everybody may have different choices but the Auburn family will come back together.

***Jacobs called the coaching search an objective and thorough process.

***Jacobs said Malzahn laid out a plan that he called "stellar" during the interview process. He said it will take a little time and there needs to be patience.

***Jacobs said Malzahn's plan including building discipline back into the progam.

***Jacobs said they are fully committed to hiring the best assistants available.

It sounded like he would clean house assistant wise to me, especially on defense.

Just got back. Lots of excitement around the athletic complex. Trooper was there but spent most of the time in his office. Loeffler was spotted walking out of the complex about 25 min before 8. He didn't look too excited. Didn't see anybody else of note outside of those mentioned being at the presser.

I don't remember did Gus have any say in the position coaches hired in 2008?

It's uncanny how close his description of Gus Malzahn was to his description of Gene

Sounds like it is a good thing that I watched the interview on TV so I wasn't subjected to simple J's speech. As far as Malzahn goes I liked what I heard from Gus and almost even nutted when he started talking about having an aggressive attacking defense. I think that style of defense compliments his offense much better than the bend and hope the other team fricks up and maybe you can force a field goal defense that Chizik ran.

I just finished watching the Gus presser on AUC. I have to admit I am somewhat stoked in seeing this take shape now. I believe he can make Auburn a contender again. He doesn't seem to shy away from answering questions.

How the hell can that grinning jackass even make a claim that we are committed to hiring the best assistants available when we won't even hire the best HC available???
