Pretty sure we are only paying him 1.5 mil total and not 1.5 per year.
No he’s getting 4.5 over three years

yeah it states in the contract 4.5 million
Also not that bad when you take into account the incentive payment he would have been owed

In leaving ISU, Leath forfeited $1.25 million in deferred compensation. To make him whole for that loss, Auburn seeded his contract with a matching $1.25 million “as an incentive for Leath to remain at Auburn for the full five year term of this agreement.”
Five years of his base pay at Auburn, plus the incentive, would have netted Leath $4.375 million. But his $4.5 million separation payout comes in addition to the two years of pay Leath already earned — meaning Auburn will have compensated Leath $5.75 million despite him serving only two years.

Paying a guy 5.75 million for two years of work is bad, no matter how it is framed. So giving him an extra 1.5 million to keep is mouth shut is bad. Pay him the three years at 650,000, plus the 1.25.. that is still 3.1 million or so.. why give him a gift of 1.4...

And people wonder why out of state tuition is 45 grand a year
Yeah, it's pretty much a given my daughter will never attend AU. She's 10...I can't imagine what out of state tuition would be in 8 years. Shame.

I won’t donate a dime to Auburn. They clearly don’t need my money considering how much they pay people to leave.
