What river is this?

Ocmulgee in middle GA.

Swap them out with Mustad triple grips. Far and away my favorite treble hook.

I swapped out some hooks with Owners, but ended up throwing a bigger crank bait, same color and depth and caught 21. Missed far fewer and no panfish harassment. Caught a 3 1/2 lbs Shoal, which fights like a 6 lbs-er. Wrapped me in a stump twice and it had a friend trying to steal the bait from its mouth. Almost doubled up, but I would have never landed 7+ lbs of Shoal bass, in the current, in the stumps.

Side note- I don't think the dark bass from my earlier post is a Shoal, after research, could be a Suwanne Bass, but didn't think they were in the Ocmulgee.

That H2O series from Acadamy is very solid for the price. Not a bad bait at all. Not sure what they are now but at one time they were under $4 each which is dirt cheap in todays market

Great pictures. We have some shoal bass in Lanier but they are up the river a long ways. I mostly fish the lower end. I have caught one of them in my life on the lower end of the lake. It was off a dock near a tournament weigh in sight so I believe someone weighed it in a derby then released it there.

Great pics.

Yeah, that's why I bought them in the first place. My kids decorated a few trees on the river with some Rapalas and after $30-40, I went for cheap. They're older and throwing baitcasters fairly accurately. Probably been over a year since we donated a lure to the squirrels.

I have a few crankbaits and jerkbaits that I sell but I sell them for $25 each. They suck to paint so I charge for them. We sell a lot of them in the Lanier area. Not for river fishing

Im trying to get caught up a this week after being gone last week. Should be able to do so. This is the time of year I typically get a little break and do some fishing. The minnow bite on Lanier is great and I have a lot of people wanting to go. Probably be on the water a lot the next month. Then back to my manufacturing job in September

I need this year to stay strong and I think it will. I have taken some risks in the past few months buying inventory with my personal money that I have never done before with this company. I am a little worried about what is going to happen in our world over the next 9 months or so and I dont want to get caught without an abundance of inventory.

We will see if I made the right call or not.

Yeah, I'd want open water with 60lb braid to throw $25 baits. My arse would pucker with every cast, which is strange because off shore fishing, I'd have no problem with high $ baits.

Looks like i will be in Flowery Branch in early Oct for a wedding. What are the chances of touring the production facilities and getting a guide trip on the Dead Sea?

It has been confirmed that Harvey Updyke has died at 71. His last Iron Bowl was a loss.

RIP

Bring it. Let me know when you will be here. We can do it. I have a big tournament early in October. A huge championship. October 9,10 and 11. Other than that, we will make it work.

But you will need to leave your little weenie baits in Alabama. We use big baits for our spotted bass

That’s the weekend of course.

Where do we stay? Cousin suggested Lake Lanier Island Resort? Anything else to do around there?

Great place. The entire island was bought by Jimmy Buffett. Now called Margaritaville of course.

Kinda pricy though. I live about 5 mins from there. Even if we cant fish, you can stop by for a drink. Its very close.

Also, if you decide you still would like to get out on the lake, the guy who works for me could take you out for a while. He would be glad to. High school football coach. Anyway, just keep me updated.

As for things to do. No. This is a very small town. Other than the resort, not much to do other than a few decent restaurants if they are even doing dining by then

the resort is about it and you are getting into the off season there. Most boating events stop in September and the water park will probably be closed. Which means it can be a ghost town at the resort. There is a golf course on site and some trails to walk around. otherwise they charge for every activity.

You can get to 985 and then 85 fairly easily so access to more around Atl if needed

Not even sure if the wife will attend or not. They have market in ATL that month (supposedly). Need to check the dates.

Been low-carb for a couple of weeks, trying to get back in shape post surgery - finally discovered a beer that limits carbs but doesn’t taste like watered down Beast:

I’ve enjoyed a few of their previous offerings, but I really like this one. Good summer drinking brew.

Steak and potatoes after an all day trip on the river. Wife caught a bunch of redeye today on the 1/8 oz chartreuse buzzbait. Looked at a couple of houses from the river. Wife was excited about a couple of them. I can't believe she's actually considering moving......

About one mile from my house yesterday. I was at home and man it was rocking. My deck was covered in hail for 10 mins

I'm not a fan of the big lakes for reasons like that. I much prefer the Coosa sized lakes or rivers.

I wasnt out there yesterday but I think it would have been crazy. I have been through a few bad storms. Yesterday had some serious lightning in it which would have run me off the lake immediately.

Im close to that marina and during the mid day, we have a storm come thorough that lasted about a hour where it was blowing 50, raining buckets and the hail was crazy along with the lightning..
