If this is true, this is a very common injury among pro athletes, the NFL in particular. It should be manageable. So if he's out for the season, it's something else.

From what I read they are expecting him to play as long as he can tolerate the pain and then have surgery when the season is over.

It is possible to play through it…had a d-line play through it when I was in college. It however will diminish his level of play to some degree.

I sat out my senior football season because of this injury, but that was mainly because I was more of a basketball player and was advised to do so to preserve my basketball season. It is absolutely something you can play through until you aggravate it, at which point no human being can possibly play through the pain.

That being said, I have a class with Kozan this summer semester, and he appears fine. For now, that is, until he further aggravates it..

I have a bulging L4/L5 and degenerative disc disease, and I deadlift 355 and rising. And these guys are a lot stronger and younger than me. IF it's a bulging disc, he'll be fine.

That depends. If the disc is pinching a nerve like say the sciatic nerve then he's barely able to to stand and sit down without shooting pain in his leg. Had that shite about two years ago luckily the Marine Corps paid for me to have surgery but still. A herniated disc can go for months with no pain and no symptoms. Then ssomething happens and it slides over and pinches a nerve and then you're VERY aware that something is wrong.

Glad he's taking care of it now. Prevents him from getting more seriously injured and give our new OL the entire fall camp to gel.

yeah... the timing could be worse... luckily we have four OLs who have starts under their belts... hurts depth though. We were lucky to avoid the injury bug last year... but we're already down two key pieces before the end of July this year.

hopefully we're just getting them out of the way early.

Any guesses on what a 2 deep will look like now?

Discussed on the first two pages.

Consensus is probably have Young move inside and have Miller play RT.

Surgery today?

So where's this info coming from and how reliable is it?

LT - Coleman / Young
LG - Young / Danzey or Diamond
C - Dismukes / Dampeer
RG - Slade / Danzey or Diamond
RT - Miller / Young or Braden Smith

We've still got Will Adams, Robert Leff and Deon Mix as well, so they may see some action in backup and trash time. For all I know one of them sees time on the line before Braden Smith.

I really think Danzey or Diamond could start their though. Before Diamond got hurt last year, he was even with Kozan for starting at LG.

Really did not like Miller at RT last season...thought Young was a huge upgrade.

I'd put Diamond next to Coleman and leave Young where he is.

That's how I want it too. I think Miller would be fine, I just really think Diamond can be good.

Two first time starters on the left side?.... no thanks. I might even move shade to LG to get some more experience on that side.... will be interesting to watch play out.
