For fricks sake exactly how many rows of seats were on the bus you rode to,school? I’m saying that is a microcosm of our season. We missed the NCAAs cause he couldn’t deal with a bunch of 18-22 year olds, which BTW he is paid to,do. Magwood gets benched until the NIT? We couldn’t have just suspended him say 3 games in Jan? Hell we probably win 2 maybe 3 more games with him instead of running Mushalek out there. Actually maybe more cause Pettiford and Overton were over worked,

I will let the coaches decide who plays when and if they play.

Which is why any post season is invaluable. And every game will likely help SP more than the team. If for no other reason he'll garner some post season feel.
eta: this was always going to be a rebuild year once Bruce left

Was gonna be a rebuild with Bruce. This roster had holes the likes of which we haven’t seen since the Shariffe year.

I just don’t comprehend why he benched Magwell the entire season.. unless he was truly needing Scout team to prepare for the SEC games.
Maybe he looked good vs an inferior team?

Probably part of it. Once USA wised up and started trapping him he was absolutely lost.

Well 2 fold…
You can’t do what he did on social media. EVER!!
He was playing poorly once conference play started anyway. We were 17 point favorites in this game for a reason.

We have a bunch of backup quality players essentially.
If it were my decisions after the season I would keep Jovic, SWA, Overton, Walker. Work with Haad to see what can be worked out.
I would let Magwood, Bashir, Oporum go. Hall and Murphy out of eligibility.
Therefore you need starter level players at the 1,3,4, and two players at the 5. A backup guard for the 2.
I would move Pettiford to a combo guard and use him like he was last season. 8 or so minutes at the 1 and 5-6 minutes at the 2 if he will take a pay cut. If not let him go to free up NIL.
Jovic and SWA can be backup 4’s. Jovic can also play defense on 3’s but can’t play the 3 on offense. Which is ok. Both have to work on their offense big time in the offseason. They are liabilities on that side of the court but both decent defenders. Plus Jovic can give you 4-5 minutes at the 5 if foul trouble. But you need a playmaker at the 4 in this flex cut offense. Needs to be at worst around a Jaylin Williams type player.
If Pettiford doesn’t work with the staff you need a starter and backup point guard.
Need a backup 2 behind Overton that is long and dribble drives. You have Simon Walker that needs to add some weight to begin to be a decent defender but you can at least teach him to be a gnat that just aggravates the shite out of who he is guarding 3-4 minutes each half at the 2. But you do need a backup behind Overton.
Freeman is still a backup 3 with high potential. He needs to improve his jump shooting, finishing at the rim, and dribbling in traffic. Therefore you need a starter level 3. A 3 and D guy would be ok if you get the right 4 spot.
At the 5 you need a bigger bodied guy and a true shot blocker. If either can give you 10 points a game or 14-15 per game together I think that’s good. Especially if one of them can stretch the floor.
Who those players are I have no idea but if I were the coach I would start there. Start at the 4 spot, then the 5, then PG land who you want there and start adding pieces to fill out your roster. That would give you 12 scholarship players and 1 to give to a walkon.

How many kids his age do it every day? Actually worse than what Magwood did. I mean I remember being an 18 year old. Malcolm Simmons beat up his girlfriend and didn’t miss a beat.
Posted on 3/18/26 at 6:37 am to SingleMalt1973
I think it’s a mixture of the two; punished and just wasn’t good enough for several minutes once SEC started.
However, you can’t tell me Musch was a lot better choice.. he averaged 0.3 pts and rebounds this year

Don't be so dense.. of course there are worse human things an 18 year old can do than call someone a b****. But it's about the team dynamic in this case. You can't go on social media and call your coach out like that. You just can't. It's that simple to most of us. Not sure why you can't grasp that.
Steven had several misses this year but punishing Magwood for that was something he got right.

There's always more than one way to skin a cat. And yes Magwood should have set some for the public statement... but once SP saw he was down to playing Muschalek ) he should have devised/incorporated/evolved his punishment so as not decimate the season. It became rather childish at that point.... and to me... something a more established coach would have considered.
Because there's always shite to be shoveled, public service, running stairs, public apologies, and on and on... that wouldn't have resulted in being NIT bound.

Yep, so have my doubts about Steven ever surviving as our coach due to how we collapsed down the stretch, and was firmly on teal he should have only been interim coach, but this he 100% made the right call on. If you want to say Magwood should have just been kicked off the team instead that is a fair statement, but it was 100% the right call not to play him, you can't undercut your coach like that publicly.
The bigger issue is that Steven seemed to lose a good portion of the team, which points to personality problems on his end long term. But he'll have this next off-season and season to prove us doubters wrong, or not.

Not buying that Magwood would have swung any SEC games. In 84 minutes of game time against power conf. opponents this year he scored 23 points on 30 shots.
He was maybe the key offender in blowing the A&M game (other than maybe SP for leaving him in so long, 8 minutes that felt like 28)

I do agree with this. And you could also say that Magwood wouldn't have dared say something like to a more respected/respectable coach.
But at the end of the day it's still Magwood's mistake and Magwood's consequences.

Everyone that loves to play the what-if game conveniently forgets Muschalek as a PG beat him out:
Just like last year when Chex couldn't shut up Jakhi Howard. Sure enough that talented hack is back in the portal. People need to remember players are nobodies until they prove to be somebody. Winning a dunk contest doesnt make someone a somebody.

You have to be trolling. No sane person would ever believe this. Besides trying really hard there is nothing Muschalek does on a basketball court better than Magwood not to mention Muschalek didn't even play pg. He played the 2 while Overton played pg

This is extremely easy information to look up.
I saw Magwood's post where he called Steven a bitch. In the same post Magwood quoted an Auburn article that discussed Magwood falling out of the rotation because of his defense.
Yes he did fall out of the rotation. Yes Muschalek took over.
