Turbo’s thread is a perfect example. It is well outside the melting window. It needs to be clipped.
I expect my school to stop making the same mistakes over and over. Before the Georgia game Gus was being pushed out the door and for good reason... he's inconsistent as frick. I'm one of those who were on the Gus bus at one time. I'm not a Gus hater I just don't think he can get it done and eventually in a few years we'll be in the exact same position we've been in many times over the years. At some point it has to stop. Why the hell did we give a coach a $2.5 million a year raise for 2 victories?
I'd love to be wrong but in the meantime my opinion is just as valid as yours or anyone else's.

Ahh the Terry Bowden edition

I’ve made my stance pretty clear, personal attacks on other posters is the line. I don’t crack down on opinions.

This is a very reasonable opinion and although I don't completely agree I think it's a fair take
Too bad you chose to start a troll thread earlier instead of this...
That's the point of some in this thread. Not that everything has to be sunshine and rainbows but stop all the shitty troll threads about the same topic

It wasn't a troll thread, it was a reasonable question.

Hopefully the new CGM contract developed will be a mutually beneficial document that allows AU the ability negate a huge buyout should he not perform at 10+ wins per year over the next 3-4 seasons. For $7 million a year he has to earn his keep without being a huge financial liability.
Agree. But Jay Jacobs is doing the negotiations. So basically Auburn University is about to get bent over because Our AD is retarded.

I pray JJ has nothing to do with the finer details of the contract. He is better suited organizing his crayons and polishing the basketball arena floor.

Be thankful Ross and Rig are the mods. I would have fun booting most of you.

I would give CB a pass. In his head, he isn’t trolling.

No way he would vote me out. I pick up the tabs and bring the beer

What confuses me...you people act like you pay the contract.
Paying Gus a few extra mil - aka the 2nd best coach in the SEC - to keep him is a brilliant idea. It also befuddles me that the op spends his time worrying about losing instead of looking forward to winning.
You can make this board what you want, but having to read thread after thread of comments that literally sound like all of my Bama friends is a bit old. At least many of them have admitted they hope we run Gus off....
How much did the raise cost you guys?

Gus has "averaged" 9 wins a season and 4 losses.
Coaching football is the ultimate results oriented job.
Either the results will be worth 7 million to the decision makers or they will go another direction.
All coaches are on the hot seat every week.
If some associate professor from Chemistry was coaching the team for an extra 10K a season to spend 3 days practicing and play 10 games on Saturday with 10 dollar tickets, then people's expectations might be tempered to "see the boys in blue compete and play a good clean game and represent the values of Auburn win or lose."
Currently the SEC is basically professional football where the coaches are highly compensated and the players get benefits of education and some fame. With that money and fame come expectations.
I enjoy supporting Auburn, but when we pay a man 7 million, my expectations increase. When I pay $100's for tickets, I expect a well prepared team with depth and player development.
It was a good season with some great wins and we made it to the 4th quarter of the SECCG with a chance to win. I consider this a successful season.

Yes. Some of us spend roughly $300+ a weekend going to an Auburn game if you include gas, food/drinks at the stadium and then dinner and drinks after we win.
That's a lot of money to the average American

I agree 100% with your assessment. However, I’m not seeing a direct correlation with ticket cost and coaches salary. Maybe there is one?
That being said, there is nothin* worse than watching the team lay an egg and put out a bad product. No coach is worth that. Gus has done that a couple of times in the last couple of years and I have the left the stadium or my couch pissed.
However, harping on the record is a bit much. Outside of 1 yr, Gus has his team in contention in Nov. He has recruited well. He has delivered an offense that got us a natty we haven’t seen in awhile and a follow up attempt. He inherited a spiced up team that was depleted due to the NCAA camping it for 2yrs on campus after Cam.
Gus has his offense principals used all over football - even the NFL. He hung 44 on a great Bama defense with an athlete QB. He isn’t perfect and we don’t get every 5* recruit, but outside of Saban - there isn’t another coach I want. He is one win away from splitting games with Saban. Next years team looks to be fully capable of evening the score with Saban. These negative threads are not warranted at the rate we see them.
