Its time to hold his feet to the fire...

If Gus truly believes the next 3-4 years are to be a high water mark for the program it is time for him to deliver consistently.
Hopefully the new CGM contract developed will be a mutually beneficial document that allows AU the ability negate a huge buyout should he not perform at 10+ wins per year over the next 3-4 seasons. For $7 million a year he has to earn his keep without being a huge financial liability.

Ross/Rig: It has been long enough for the melters. Time to crack down.

If the truth hurts you that much perhaps a vacation from the board is desperately needed. I pre-date the mods of this forum and haven't violated the rules; that said, is it necessary to whine when an opinion does not meet your sunshine pumping criteria?

As much as Luke pisses me off sometimes.. He stays

Don't be a pussy. Obvious alters should be shitcanned but disgruntled established posters are fine.

People love to say that Gus benefitted from the micro managing, but I suspect Gus doesn't see it that way. He probably caved on giving up playing calling duties because he was worried about security...that honestly didn't work out as well as most thought. We basically ran the same unimaginative plays because we didn't execute the base package well enough to move on to the more sophisticated stuff. It worked when we played teams with less talent and suffered beyond that...injuries also affected us.
I have no idea if Rhett leaving was mutual, forced, etc...but I know for a fact Gus was thwarted in his attempt to hire Chip. Thankfully Gus didn't cave and out politicked the clown show in charge of Auburn athletics and got Chip anyway. How did that work out?
IMO I am looking forward to a Gus who isn't looking over his shoulder...possibly for the 1st time in his college coaching career except for most of the 2014 season when the D decided to quit playing on his O.

I am not a melter and if this forum starts cracking down on reputable/tenured posters (aka anyone who signed up before this season) then I'm out.
This is not supposed to be a sunshine pumping homer board. Keeping it that way unfortunately requires us to suffer some real downers but its important that we do.
ETA: I'm okay slapping around people who very recently signed up for the sole purpose of melting

There is being critical, talking about players and coaches performance, etc, then just being mad and complaining about the same topic over and over again. Regardless of where you fall, Gus is our coach for the foreseeable future, and constant threads about if we should have extended him, etc need to stop. I know the OP is a bit different, but it is time to move on. The negative comments are killing the conversation ATM.

I am annoyed by them as well but frankly don't think they should be policed in any fashion

Well, that's Luke.

Turbo’s thread is a perfect example. It is well outside the melting window. It needs to be clipped.

We've had a coach for 5 years that has spent the 2 1/2 most recent years on and off the hot seat. He just got extended for beaucoup bucks less than 3 days ago. And you think people who dissent with that idea have, what, less than 2 days to voice it?
I don't agree with the guy, but come the frick on. We don't all have to goose step in the same direction

I agree with you. The frustration stems from the toxic nature of some of these posts/posters. It's not about constructive criticism or rational voicing of concerns with them - it's about turning this board into their own personal cathartic therapy session.

I'll be clear, I roll my eyes at the melters, I argue this on philosophical rather than substantive grounds

Trust me, I'm right there with you.

We agree to disagree. There is criticism which I am fine with. Don’t like the way Gus plays KJ? Fine. Have at it. But the constant complaining over issues that aren’t going to change over the next 5 years only devalues the board. We all know the 4-5 posters doing it.

Whether we like it or not, the ink is drying. We may as well move forward.

Interested in the details of the contract...then we'll get a whole nother round of incessant bitching by the chicken littles.

You know what I love is how we all get on here thinking we have some kind of say so in the day to day goings on with our athletic department

I do, I just left an email for Leath and I fully expect him to implement my suggestions immediately.
Dear President Leath
I would like the following implemented immediately upon your completion of reading this email.
-My access to sidelines during games so I can hang with Bo and the others
-Two Booster seats of my choice with upgraded food selections for half the cost
-Hold Gus' feet to the fire after he made a lot of promises for 7 million. From NegaLuke on the Auburn Sports Board SECRANT
-Revise Gus' contract down to 5.5M per year because he didn't beat LSU, lost the SEC Championship game, and Arkansas wasn't really offering him.
-Supply Lanier with two bottles of Julio per game, and a couch for him to pass out on. He is getting too old to fall on the concrete.
-Provide Rig his favorite wings and two Tigerettes to make him a sammich and hand him a beer.
-Provide Pavoloch and Beatbammer electric carts and some hunky big dude's to carry them to their seats. They are older than Samford Hall.
Thank you and just have the ticket office call me so I can choose my seats for next season.
Sincerely,
Rocky
