What did we learn? What do UGA, Bama and Ohio St have in common?

They have the 3 most talented rosters (starz) in College Football.

And all will be watching the semi finals from their sofas

I tried to tell some of you that Indiana was legit. Some of you were saying "They only beat up weak Big-10 teams." They dominated Bama worse than they've been dominated in probably 20 years. When's the last time Bama only scored 3 points in a game?

Granted, Bama is not the same team they were 5 years ago, but it's still damn impressive what Indiana is doing.

He and UI just beat the frick out of Ohio State for the Big 10 title and Bama in the Rose Bowl. Who cares about the early season exhibition games all teams play.

Takeways:

It still matters to have talent on your roster, but program building, system building, roster cohesion, and staff/roster buy-in are all quite important as well.

which also saw Indiana bring in a large number of new players via the portal.

We need to do what Indiana did and hit the portal hard and get a bunch of experienced upperclassmen. All their key players are seniors. No more true freshman divas wanting $5-$10mil to sign a scholarship and then leave within a year or two. Get experience, and rinse and repeat.

Deboer is running on the recruits of Saban, and that energy is fading fast. He's going to be like one of the Mike's of the 2000s

They spent 40M in NIL this year
for one season? i dont think so

until i see documented proof that their collection of 3* and and G5 guys cost them more in 2025 than the Bamas & tOSUs of the world i refuse to believe it

ETA: here is their transfer class for 2025, look at the names in this list and tell me they had to pay top dollar for anyone other than Mendoza (who was rated 4* as a transfer - far from the Heisman winner he became)

also take note of the number of outgoing transfers - wonder if their fanbase melted down at their “mass exodus”

Academy Soorts is filling trucks with their Alabama Rose Bowl Champions tee shirts they had pre-printed. Those kids in Haiti are going to love them.

They can get more for them in Indiana.

I was referring to 2024, not 2025. They gelled the team in '24, going 11-2 and losing to the only two teams with a pulse that they played, tOSU and ND. Take that same team to the SEC, and the record is worse.

In '25, they had a more veteran-led team with a few key xfer pieces (7 of their starting 22, one of which was Mendoza). They played only two ranked teams (Iowa and Oregon) in the regular season, which again gave them plenty of time to gel the team and pad stats. Compare that to the gauntlet that AU faced.

The problem is that the selections committee cares very much about your overall record - see Texas and Vandy for two examples from this year - who could have been one loss teams at worst against IU's schedule.

Apparently Indiana's average starters age is 22.5

Things make so much sense now.

This true and the approach we should take.

They have a rookie aged NFL team. Very smart of them.
