In-state recruiting

We're at the point now with Alabama being such a dynasty that I doubt we'll ever win another in-state battle for a top recruit against them again as long as Saban is there.
If we can't get friggin' Reuben Foster or Shaun Dion Hamilito when we have probably the thinnest middle linebacker depth in the SEC, and Reuben even lived in Auburn and Hamilton grew up as a friggin' Auburn fan, then we are screwed.

If only we had a sticky recruiting thread...
But to your post, relax we will get our share, we have almost never won instate recruiting (Even under dye), we have to get some from Georgia and Florida... that is why being in the west has hurt us..

I'm not going through a 67 page thread.
And I just remembered we're still after Tre Williams. Slim to none chance we will get him either which is just sickening.
I can't believe we didn't get Hamilton.

Yuup, go back to realignment and this was one of the reasons used for keeping Auburn in the West. Alabama stated that it would give Auburn a recruiting advantage in Georgia and Florida should they move to the East and Im pretty sure both those schools agreed
If Auburn was in the East our recruiting would explode and we would have a much easier path to Atlanta each year

Ya, you are a fricking moron. Odds are in favor of us getting Tre. Our staff feels pretty darn good about it too

Link to where Hamilton actually grew up an Auburn fan? His entire family, with the exception of his uncle are bama fans.
Andrew Bone ?@AndrewJBone 37m Hamilton's entire family are Alabama fans. His dad told me the only Auburn fan in the family is his uncle. He was wearing a Bama hat today.
Andrew Bone ?@AndrewJBone 26m Shaun's father told me that Alabama was his No.1 school from day one. Wanted son to make own choice. Named him after Shaun Alexander.

Separating ourselves from Alabama is in our best interests.

I didn't put 2 and 2 together there. Either he's full of shite, or he did name him after a senior in high school, which is super frickin weird.

That's fricking hilarious. I took it to the recruiting board.

There's no way that's true.

It's in many premium articles. 2 of which I know for a fact were direct quotes from SDH to Bone before yesterday. Here is one example from 3 days ago.
quote:
"Auburn is an in-state school. They were always my childhood favorite."

most of these guys don't grow up auburn fans like we grow up auburn fans. The fact that we lost an in-state MLB prospect to alabama should not suprise anyone. we've gotta prove it on the field first.

I actually did not grow up an Auburn fan.
I am glad how things happened with SDH. Davis is a MUCH better fit for our defense and has MUCH more upside.

Davis does have a partially torn ACL... that's a little bit of a red-flag... but I agree.

as someone else said, AU doesn't have to win the in-state recruiting battle. We need to pick up a few big time guys here and there, but most of our big pickups need to come from GA and FL. That has always been Auburn's recipe for success.

Coaches knew about that, so I'm not too worried.

He must not have liked them too much.
"There were a lot of great schools out there who gave me opportunities," Hamilton said. "Auburn is right down the road and I have a teammate (quarterback Jeremy Johnson) who signed with them. But at the end of the day my heart was with Alabama. I just had to do what's best for me and my family, and it was a business decision."
