If I go with a metal boat (SeaArk or GatorTrax), it’ll have a Suzuki on it. If I get the Skeeter, it’ll have a Yamaha.

Lots of Yamaha dealers and repair areas on the coast. Very few Suzuki. Ive had great luck with Yamaha over the years. The guy that works for me has a Suzuki on his Pontoon. Loves it.

I hear nothing but good things about the Suzuki. To be fair, I've had Mercury and Yamaha motors in the past and not had trouble with either of them.

Nice boat Lanier. Seen a ton of Tidewater boats down there this past week on vacay. Get a upper control station on that beauty for tarpon site fishing. I’d keep your eye open for a house in San Remo Shores (Cortez, FL). Easy access to ICW, wide canals, and nice docks at every house. Awesome location for everything and don’t have to contend with island traffic. Also we caught several Goliath grouper at 3mile North reef along with what I think could have been a state record Nassau grouper. Don’t give up on the offshore/nearshore bottom fishing in that rig along with tarpon bite in June along the beaches. Good luck with the move, I’m jealous as hell...congrats.

Going down Saturday to see that space and find somewhere to live. Probably be down 10 days or so. Didnt know you were down there

Good location for the business. Hope it works out.
The red tide is horrible, as bad as I have ever seen personally. We were way off shore and had dead fish everywhere at the end of outgoing tides. Longboat Pass was unfishable. Crazy but we had very few dead fish in San Remo and Palma Sola Bay. Spent most of week anchored up on north end of Anna Maria near Sandbar drinking cold beer and relaxing while dodging the pm t'storms.
Oh and frick I-75 traffic coming and going

ETA: I'll send you my .gpx file for AMI and pay for gas if you take me out fishing in the new ride

I-75 will always be a beast at times. Problem is we are growing by leaps and bounds but the road infra is not able to keep up.

What is a good fishing pole for a beginner to learn and grow into? I don’t want one that is heavy duty enough for brim. Or something that offers limited flexibility.
Haven’t been fishing since I was a kid but now have the time to go after some bass and catfish.
First, caster or spinning reel?
Specific brand? Kastking has some nice rod and reel combos.

7'0 M spinning rod with a 2500 size reel will do a little of everything.

Is 7’0 noticeably different than a 6’0 or a 6’6?
What do you believe are the advantages with a spinning reel?

Depends on what you will be doing with it. Dropshot or worm? 7' no question. Skipping a senko, 6'6" or maybe smaller.
I had some 5'6" medium spinning rods built for me by a guy here at work. They are specifically for the Cahaba River. Tight quarters or the river and the canoe mandated this.

Im finally done. We have been at it hard since we got here Saturday afternoon. Looked at a bunch of places. Found a house to rent for a while. A little farther out east than I originally wanted but the inventory is low and I really liked this area. Out in the Tara area in The Preserve Golf Club. Nice house and it will do nicely till we buy something.

The place I told you about on Cortez rd ended up being perfect for me to put the tackle business in. It is clean, cheap, bright and in a great location. On Cortez near Applebees about 5 miles east of the 684 bridge. Near 42nd st. Will work out perfectly for us.

Our eventual goal is to get in Legends Bay. Im hoping by the end of the year or early next year, something will come available and we can jump on it once things cool down a little bit. We went there today and looked at two places and absolutely loved it. I think my wife has set her heart on getting in there so I will need to get that done
For now, we are set. Shut the business down in about 2 weeks, move it down then head back home for a week to finish packing up the house and follow the movers down on August 31. It is going to be a very busy month.
Wanna come over and help us unload the SpotSticker stuff and load it in the building in a few weeks?

I am trying to get my schedule set up now. Im thinking the 3rd week of August. Funny story I asked our realtor how we could get some labor to come help us unload for a day. Just wanted to pay for some help..
She has a daughter that goes to IMG. Her boy friend plays on the football team there and he and a couple of his teammates are interested.
Looks like 4 of them are coming after football practice to help us unload.
