Shutting the business down this Friday. Packing it up over the weekend then driving it down next Monday. Will be in Bradenton for 5 days unloading the business, setting it all up then return to Georgia for a week to pack up the house. Close on the house on Aug 30. Drive down right after closing and meet the movers the next morning at the new house with all my furniture

Everything will be moved and done on September 1

I am not a pack rat. I am not sentimental. I dont keep a lot of junk around. I ordered a 30 yard roll off dumpster and had it put in my driveway 9 days ago. Right now, you could not put another piece of paper in it. I have no idea how we accumulated that much junk that we didnt need. Unreal

Big tip on spooling a spinning reel. Lay the spool of line on the ground on its side. Run the line through all the guides on the rod then tie it to the spool on the reel. Start to put the line on the reel from the spool by just turning the reel.

Biggest thing about spinning reels is, getting the line on the reel in the right direction. Make sure the line is coming off the factory spool in a counter clockwise direction. That is very very important. It will put the line on the reel in the right direction and save you some serious headaches.

Heard that. Wife and I are moving on August 20th and I have encouraged her to throw away everything that we can.

We still have an entire room of boxes since we moved in October. Can't convince the wife to throw things away.

While spooling it seemed as though I couldn’t ever keep the line tight enough to where it wouldn’t curl up. Also, every YouTube video I watched said lay the line on the ground with the label up. I did that but it caused the line to spool clockwise.

Is a baitcaster easier to set up?

About the same TBH.

Went fly fishing this weekend in the little creek I grew up playing in. It was a huge creek back then, but seemed significantly smaller this time. The bass were too wary in the crystal clear water, but the sunfish were biting. Got caught in a thunderstorm and got soaked. Drank beer and went to dinner with the wife. Good times, good times.

Yea, thats a mistake. Some manufacturers put the line on backwards which is why your line is bouncing off the spool. You will need to take it off the spool and start over or it will continue to do that. Imagine a spring, wound backwards.

This is the first video that pops up on spooling a spinning reel and he seems to know what he is doing.

Now casting reels are a completely different animal. Overall, a casting reel is a better design as the line doesnt twist as it comes on and off the reel. But they are not great for light weight stuff and the learning curve is way longer

Id advise you to stick with the spinning reel and just get the line on correctly. If you are mostly pan fishing and doing light weight stuff, Id put 6 or 8 pound monofilament line on first. There are many different brands of line and types but that will cover most things and its cheap.

This line right here is very good and very cheap. Get a big spool and it will last you. Just store it out of any direct light

Eventually you will get to doing braided line with a leader but since you are just starting out, I would not advise you tackling that set up just yet

If you bought a 2000 or 2500 series reel, dont go any bigger than 8 pound test. It will be more difficult.

Got to fish with my uncle on Saturday on the middle pond, the lake downstream from Martin. Was hot and slowwww.

What wasn't slow is the Skeeter he won a few weeks ago

Fish the grass behind the islands at the dam? Fish the shoreline grass?

I love that little lake. Would kill to have a lake house there on the Auburn side.

Didn't get right below the dam. Caught most of them around shoreline grass and docks. No water moving didn't help us.

Just in time for football season

Congrats on ridding yourself of the junk. A while back we did some traveling across the country for about a month and only had a couple of bags. We did something similar when we got back. Now we’re pretty strict on what we allow in because as soon as you stop thinking about it you’re just as likely to have a filled garage in a year’s span

Agreed. We did something similar when we remodeled our house. Threw almost all furniture out bought just what we needed and very little more. We do it regularly with our clothes, attic etc. Except for the garage...I need another garage...LOL...one for all of my toys and the other is to park cars in...

The last SpotSticker Baits to be built and sold in the state of Georgia.

Been a crazy ride.

We shall toast our last order tonight. Sorry in advance.
