Start Deuce, sit Ashton, if problems arise put in JA. That's it. No reason to waste Ashton's red shirt on this season

I had to check. It was the ULM game ( week before Bama) when we forced Kerryon to get 25 total touches as we were only up 14-7 at the half

Unless Daniels is going to lay down and refuse to play, he is getting paid to be there and be ready to play. The truth is that Durkin is still trying to get the job I’m sure and that means putting his best chance to win on the field.
I don’t feel bad for these kids now that they are getting crazy money to be there.

I guess for Mercer game, I’d put JA out there.
It would give him a chance to put something good on tape before portal.
If we are sucking and losing, bring Deuce in.

I would have a heart to heart talk with Ashton Daniels and then make a decision. I think Jackson Arnold or Deuce would be OK against Mercer. Daniels could start in the Iron Bowl.

I think that if Daniels has any pro ambitions that he'd need to have a break-out year. Certainly, this year isn't doing anything for his potential pro resume.
Look at Bo Nix. Gus's line had him running for his life much of the time and then came Harsin who didn't even see the problem. Bo had a major break-out year with the Ducks and now is the hottest QB in the NFL.
As soon as Freeze was gone, the freshman center was pulled and the sacks were pretty much fixed.

This is my thought. Hopefully we could get up 2 scores with JA in the first then play Deuce the last 3 qtrs. More game time without as much stress as starting. His last showing was not promising, and Id hate to see more of that and JA have to be brought in to win
