We are chasing the wrong Tulane coach. I said this about Harsin and I'll say it here again. You have the guy that builds something, then you have the guy that comes in and rides it and kind of keeps it going. Always go for the builder, not the next guy. Harsin was that next guy after Chris Petersen.

Sumrall is that next guy after........

Eh... didn't Sumrall only return like 7 starters this season?

Have to evaluate it differently in today's game. "Building" a program is totally different than it used to be. Any coach in 2025 should get a pass for their first season, but year 2 the "rebuild" should somewhat be in the rear view.

My QB and HC picker is defective so I'm just going to wait and see who we hire then talk myself into believing in them. I think it's better this way

What he did at Troy was impressive

What he did at Troy was impressive. But Auburn isnt the type of job that sees that Troy resume and hire him as HC. Hell we could have just as easily hired Kane Womack.

I am shocked that Sumrall's name even popped up on our radar.

It is has also popped up for FL & LSU. There are also rumors that he is chomping for the AU job. It will be interesting to see who is selected & accepts.

Nobody is saying that it isn't but I don't see how that qualifies him for the Auburn job.

Nor the 1 year for Gus at Arky State
Nor the only 3 seasons that Freeze had that were 10+ wins (1 each at his stops of Arky St, Mss, Liberty)
Nor was the 5-19 Chizik from Iowa State
Nor 25-20 record at Ole Miss Pine Box
Nor the couple of 9 win seasons at East Carolina & 6-5 from Wyoming who our field is named after

Coaching success is a crap shoot but it can be success if you have a coach that is attention to detail along with his staff & teaches & holds the players accountable. We had a few that Didn't make the cut by some folks standards around here.

Pretty much where I am right now, but I'm sure John Cohen will think that we let him down.

Its got alot to do with personality and coaching style too but without being able to sit down and talk with him ourselves we just kinda have to take everybody's word for it. And those are plenty important in their own right but thats the part of football people who aren't behind the scenes never really get to see so it's hard for me to get excited about him.

Yeah and is competing for the conference title.. My point was I don't think he is picking up where Fritz left off. It's his own team now.

The UTSA loss was bad but he's having a good season. Not sure it warrants him being everyone's favorite up and comer but I suppose we could do worse.

He went 9-5 last year. Yeah he is mediocre in his own right.

He easily has more top ten wins than our entire hot board combined.

Why are you mediocrity inclined as a person and a lover?
