I saw where it was thrown on the field, but would someone be kind enough to enlighten me as to the story beyond that?

Tennessee was stopped just short on a 4th down as they were trying to come back late Saturday. A review confirmed they were stopped short, UT fans didn't like that and proceeded to throw a hit and toss a frick ton of trash on the field, delaying the game for over 20 minutes. One of the items thrown was a bottle of mustard, which the cameras panned to nicely

There was one that hit Lane in the arm while he was speaking to a ref.

I give Tennessee fans great credit for bringing my favorite brand of mustard for their hot dogs, but they lose points with me for wasting a great bottle of mustard by launching it indiscriminately at Ole Miss players. I see a French's advertisement in the works.

I remember when a UT fan set his football jersey on fire after Kiffin left. Think he burned a hat and some other things as well, and put it up on YouTube for all the world to see.

Not much of anything good has happened since then for the program. A semi-impressive bowl victory, a couple of wins over some rival SEC teams, but certainly not beating Alabama. And not coming anywhere close to the title game. It’s been a long dry spell for the volunteers, and losing to Lane that way was too much for some to take.

Yep. Sucks to be them.
