He did a very good job of handling the initial questions about his last, he owned it and didn’t shy away. He sent a direct message to recruits that you can come to AU and play right away, dropped a “subtle” bragg about the new facility, mentioned all the NIL money, but also said it was about AU being a great place and providing players with a great experince, Half Jimmy Swaggart, half used car salesman. Big change from Harsin who was basically a 2x4. We finna eat in the portal I think,

Brother Hugh looked tired. I bet hasn't gotten more than 4 hours of sleep since he took the job.

He can win the presser though. That was good recruiting.

That was a waste of a trip to Fort Worth. He could’ve done it via video chat and had the same experience.

And shame to ESPN for making 60% of the interview about his past. Typical. AU should’ve known that would happen and not sent him. To hell with College Gameday.

I thought Hugh did well. I also hope he’s taking this opportunity to meet with any HS coaches while in Texas.

I'm sure he is there for other reasons otherwise it would have been remote.

I thought the questions were fair and pretty good. They touched on his past without specifics and asked about his plan at Auburn

It went well.

That was his first major interview since taking the job, too. Obviously ESPN is going to cover the transition. If they continued with his past for months and years yeah that would be a different story.

Yea the most important thing is people seeing him own everything that got him to this point, which I think he has done a good job of. He can’t hide from it. Doing it in person was very good optics

Now, I’m sure he has other things he is doing while there as well.

If they talk about it now and get it out of the way, the next time he interviews you can focus on football and media wont want to retread the topic.

How far is it from Ft Worth to ATM? He might want to swing by the Aggieland used football player lot and see if he can get a few

1. ESPN is doing its job by asking. Their job isn’t to promote Auburn
2. Phone call interview is lame AF and ESPN probably wouldn’t have even done it.

It was a meh interview but I'm glad to see Hugh is beat. It means he's burning the candle at both ends.

Yeah and it’s out of the way now for that platform. Morning spot on gameday is a good time for it

And Auburn would’ve known the questions. Gameday is highly scripted and produced

Gameday did a Skype like call with Rhule the week before… and it didn’t come across all that great.

I can about guarantee that GameDay didn't ask Freeze to come on. More likely, Auburn PR, or whatever outside PR team is handling Freeze, asked GameDay. GameDay happy to oblige as it's a new SEC hire and has generated national buzz (for better or worse). The PR team's objective here is to get Freeze in front of a national audience and begin to change the narrative. The exposure also benefits recruiting.

No doubt there were clear guidelines agreed upon about what was in and out of bounds, as others have said. But you're not putting him on at this point in time without expecting, and agreeing to, some questions about his past. Matter of fact, that's half the point.

Yep. He needs to be a guy who feels bad about what he's done and has been dragged through the mud enough at this point.
