We accept negativity here, not stupidity.

Your mom will kick you out before we pay Gus' buyout.

I guess whenever the AD gets tired of 8-4 and 7-5 with the occasional 10 win season

Interesting question.
I think there is a formula. Take the number of years you live in the parent's basement, then divide by two.
So, ten years?

Y'all are so silly. I've been out of the folks house for 30 years now.
I don't have high hopes for the coach who hasn't been able to show any reasonable amount of consistency and a huge chunk of the fan base wanted to run off just 5-6 weeks ago.
We're Auburn, we have a long track record of paying coaches not to coach.

We are now stuck with him for at least 5 years. The glaring holes he possess as a head coach will still be present in those 5 season too. The only one he might be able to fix is development of a High school qb in Willis (the first of his career.) He will still be 4 game Gus who waste preseason camp by not figurung out his team. He will still shuffle the OL all season long. He will still not develop depth and play favorites.

Gus is hopefully hitting his stride and stability is huge. He has had two good seasons and has improved the last two years. Two average seasons and 1 terrible season. I was good with him staying or leaving, but long term staying was probable best. I think 10-12 years is a good run at one school.

Yea, good luck with that. It will be a constant lie of BS for years to come complaining about how much he is getting paid to do bla bla bla

All this. People don't want to hear the truth though. He is more likely to go 7-5 again next year instead of another 10+ win season. Many schools in the SEC upgraded their coaches this year. Auburn decided to give its lame duck coach a raise and extension. Should have been let go after the thUGA game last year, before the coaching change extravaganza this year.

get lost. Gus is our coach and we are playing for an 11 win season.

Why is Auburn likely to go 7-5?
We have three rent a wins...plus Ole Miss, Arkie and UT on our schedule.
We have LSU, A&M and MSU who if we retain the majority of our juniors and QB we will be favored to beat.
We have Washington in Atlanta who we will be favored to beat if we retain our juniors and QB.
That leaves uga and bama...who knows maybe they'll both be ranked #1 again so we can bet them.
All Auburn has to do to get to 10 wins is get 2 of 3 from the LSU bracket and 2 from the top tier teams. If you get 2 of 3 from LSU/A&M/MSU then you will likely get at least 2 from the top tier. That makes 10 wins.

While I agree with many here that negativity among the Fanbase can be a Trojan horse, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect greatness and not mediocrity. You don’t luck into the kind of excellence that wins championships consistently. You expect it. We’ve aligned the pay with greatness. Now, we should expect it. Ignoring Malzahn’s weaknesses will be to everyone’s detriment. Yet, obviously, the PTB have decided to bank on Malzahn’s continued development as a HC. So, probably the best thing for my football psyche is to stay optimistic with them for a season...which I will do.

I had no doubt before the season started that this years team should be a championship caliber team. I also have no doubt next years should be too. My only complaint with Gus is to be considered a great coach he needs to be able to finish with his championship teams at some point.
