With the NIL in full force this off season, it seems like a particularly bad time to have the program headed in a poor direction.

Coaches and players opting for lateral moves everyday and high star recruits barely give us a look. Whats the deal?

The program is a dumpster fire from the top down. If not for Bruce Pearl the entire AD wouldn’t be worth investing a single dime into to be frank. It’s time to drop the donor ego and collectively right the ship because rock bottom will be oct-December 2022.

Two years. Program isn't heading in a poor direction - yet.

Coaches (Mason) left due to disagreements. What other coach left for a lateral movement?

Most players who left are looking for better play time. (Obviously not counting Nix and Hudson)

With regards to high star recruits, it's a new staff, first year went subpar, and the transfer world is the new normal.

Life is not as bad as many people believe.

Oh and it's basketball season with our biggest game of the year tomorrow yet I'm here arguing about football

... *you guys act like our competition hasn't been buying up whole teams for years.

Nothing's really changed in West Vance, Athens, or with any of our long standing rivals. AU has has always been a cyclic power and all the crying, finger pointing, and name calling is mostly lack of football malaise. Except for the 3-4 easily bruised ego's... a winter home in Fla might help.

(hoops - it'll make ya feel better)

*edit - some of you guys

We closed strong with NIL and still are hard after Citizen and a few others. So the sky isn’t falling with recruiting. However, we need to get a top 10 class in 2023 with 4-5 highly ranked offensive lineman (top 250 level players). If we don’t do that the writing will be on the wall.

For the immediate future we’re pretty screwed in terms of competing in the SEC.
We signed our 7-8 year death certificate when we extended Malzahn in 2017.

It’s going to take a while to climb out of the ginormous hole we are in.

We first have to understand HOW to recover. Most have felt that we needed a president first (It will be Dean Roberts which I think is a good thing). Second he has to decide what to do with his management team and in particular ADAG. (I believe he will be gone by spring). Then hire a new AD who hires the football coach. I have not given up on Harsin, IMHO, If Bo does not get injured we win 9 games. He has to show improvement this year and then have one more year to truly turn it around.

This. We'll have to wait and see with Harsin and this reshuffling currently going on.

If we don't have a very very strong class next year, it could be a while until we're "good" again by SEC west standards. Bama, Georgia, A&M are recruiting really well right now.

Auburn can't compete with even top 15-20 type classes. It's not a league for "under the radar and coach em up". We had a really good opportunity post 2010 in the post NC glow to become a powerhouse, but flopping on OL recruiting and lack of evolution from Malzahn got us to where we are today.

I blame that more on Chizik. He butchered the chance at making the program a powerhouse. It was ripe for the taking but we absolutely fell apart switching to that old school 2012 offense along with Kirby Frazier being a bigger bust than Jeremy Johnson. He might still be the coach at Auburn today had he not done that.

As long as it takes.

Cultural change is a process.

The legislation governing NIl in Alabama , has a new bill on the docket to repeal the Alabama State Law and use the NCAA guideline.

For those who follow the law in Alabama ....the reigns will be cut sometime if not this special session, the next.
