Could go in many directions so I’m gonna pick the one I like best. Realistically, best case scenario is Elite 8. Mid case is Sweet 16, and I could see us ending our season this weekend. Just excited to be here

To the 2019 Final Four

As for this year, most likely 2nd round, but I wouldn't be surprised to see us in the Sweet 16 despite tRant's shite talking.

One more and done. Team hasn't had any success away from home since McLemore's ankle. Hoping with a month of play since his injury they can manage to figure out the lone win.

eta: Just glad to even make the tournament, who'd a thunk it once the the FBI news broke?

Clemson has been even worse away from home. They've only beat 3 teams away from home since December 16, only Boston College has a winning record at 19-15

I obviously don’t want Auburn to ever lose but this is a perfect scenario given our tournament deficiencies. Winning a couple games and then losing a nail biter to a great team can build even more team confidence and can mature our winning culture even more for next season. Obviously, that didn’t happen after our last sweet 16 run, but I think that program was already on the decline.

Thought this was cool to look at. Bart Torvik Efficiency Profile Resumes

Basically every team with similar numbers as AU has at least advanced to the Round of 32 since 2008. The furthest anyone went was Elite 8 (Missouri 2009). Most got bounced in their 2nd game. Good news is those teams more closely seeded to AU (#3 or #4) all got to the Sweet 16 or further

Basically based off historical data, AU has a decent chance of making it to the Sweet 16 but that's probably as far as we can go

In further unsurprising news, Pete Thamel has us getting upset by Charleston in game 1.

Seriously, did Cam Newton frick his wife...?

My legit one tho have them losing to Kansas in Sweet 16.

This is as far as I reasonably expect us to make.

Would love to go further and think we definitely are capable, just not sure we string together enough good games without a bad one in there.

Truth is that for the last 3 weeks we've mustered 1 win against a mediocre opponent in front of a rocking home crowd. Otherwise we've been a mixture of gritty (but losing) or outright bad. More simply put, we haven't been the team our record reflects in about a month. With that in mind, it's kind of hard to take confidence in stats about similar teams, who generally haven't experienced the huge swing we have (from potential #1 seed to a team that is getting pounded by a bubble team).

Hopefully anything but a disastrous performance will keep us well positioned to win the first one. But after that, I assume we'll need something generally better than we've seen in the last 4-5 games to advance. And we'll have to really get hot beyond that.

Guards win the tourney. If our guys can get our shot and swagger back we can still beat anyone. I’m excited

This is a good assessment of where we currently are. We just aren't the same team that won 21 out of 23 and got us this seeding. But outside of our last game we have been gritty all year. We had the lead in the final two minutes on Florida's home court (a #6 seed) and hung in there with a hot shooting Arky team on their senior night. We really just need a break or two to make this a fun tournament run.

The good news is we got a great draw against CoC, who is really overseeded (should be a 15 seed according to KenPom) and has only beat one team ranked in the top 150 (Northeastern). Clemson also isn't the same team that got them the 5 seed and is beatable if we Bryce Brown and Mustapha Heron come to play. Kansas is also overseeded per KenPom and is a team we can hang with.

We haven't been the same team for the past month, but at least the bracket leaves some potential for some excitement in March and hopefully we can build some momentum going into next year.

I have us losing to Kansas. I think we handle CoC. I have NMSt beating Clemson. Like us, Kansas shoots and makes a lot of 3's, but the difference is their down low players are 7ft and 6'9. If we had Mac I could see us beating them.

I guess Clemson was better than some thought.
