If I remember it correctly, Nick Marshall was much worse in 2014 as opposed to 2013. That could have been a result of lower overall talent.

our offense was outstanding in 2014. Only fault they had was redzone issues in big games (MSU and Iron Bowl ring a bell primarily)

the defense made it to where if they didn't score on almost every drive we'd likely lose. (think South Carolina and Ole Miss)

We realized how fricking good OL/Tre Mason were in 2014 by not having them. NM was a very inconsistent passer. He’d hit a post on the money but couldn’t connect on a curl route to save his life. Our defenses back then were absolutely atrocious

Cam...Nick...Sean White...Stidham (people forget how bad he looked early last year)...heck Jeremy Johnson was better when he finished than when he started he kept all passes forward against bama in the Iron Bowl his senior year.

I can recall like it was yesterday that I told a buddy in 2014 if we ever get an average D, we will never be stopped. Gus will always have a powerful O. Somehow, Saban bitched about our program, and being the wizard he is, made us turn into 2011 Bama, and he took 2013 AU. Impressive.

Nick Marshall was one of the worst passers I’ve ever seen at the beginning of 2013.

Funny how he had to win the Miss State game by passing when he was the worst you have ever seen.

Miss State game

The psyche of an athlete is so important...IMO that game created the ice water he had in his veins.

Honest Question: Have any QBs progressed under CGM?
I can't seem to remember any QBs that have gotten better after year one under Gus. I don't follow this as closely as some of you, so I really don't know for sure.

these type threads are hugely stupid. Each quarterback under has gotten better. The biggest issue that our offense and quarterbacks have is that we don't have an offensive identity until mid-season and that falls back on him not seeing what he has in practices for whatever reasons. Top notch teams with strong offenses (Alabama this year, Clemson year in and year out) all come out swinging and know what they are going to do out of the gate. We seem to lack that and never have much going in the first 4 games until we figure out who our running back is, who are the best linemen to play and what our strengths are.

Cam improved greatly as the offense came together and Dyer was getting the bulk of the runs.

Marshall was much better over the two years than he was to start with.

Sean White was a good quarterback in a poor system for his strengths but he did improve. Injuries plagued him.

Jeremy Johnson was a head case but a good guy who did all that was asked of him, sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Stidham has gotten better but our line is really bad so far and we can't take pressure off with a strong running game.

Our biggest differences seem to be those big blocking fullbacks that make our offense shine. Jay Prosch made our offense churn. There were plays where he blocked two or three guys to break a run open.
