If it's true he will coach through their bowl game obviously, setting us back another month

IF this is true this pisses me off. Not that i don't like KS as a hire but, shows me we're still in same position with Pat Dye having a say. He has been vocal as KS was the one he would like.

I think this will keep our class mostly in tact.. That's about the only bright side I can find.. It will definitely be a wait and see game to see what he can do..
At least this hire would be an unknown, and not a totally reckless hire *5-19.

Probably not actually. When you leave for a HC job you don't stick around for the bowl. Even if it is the BCSNC. Especially when it's for your new rival school.

That's a deal breaker for me. If we hire you as the head coach at Auburn University you need to get here right now and get to work. Don't go win our biggest rival another NC then show up here. If that's the case, I will never respect or support him.

I don't think he would.. I'm almost positive that would be a requirement of hiring- starting immediately.. Gotta save our recruiting class.

Yea he has not proved he is worth 3 mil yet. He needs to be below $2mil in his first year until he can prove himself.

He probably wouldn't have come with that salary. He already makes over a million at Bama.

100%
I may lose my mind if we hire him and he is not at work the very next day for us. Total dealbreaker and I might flip out.

Knowing JJ he probably slapped a 15 million buyout on there for good measure.

Coming from this article... But could be true, but not a highly respected web-site... Well of course Bo is from Chicago
------------
The Auburn Tigers have reportedly hired Alabama Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kirby Smart to be their head coach according to sources.
Auburn had reportedly been interested in Charlie Strong and Bobby Petrino among others for the job, but according to a number of reports, the school that won the 2010 national title got the man they wanted and will pay Smart $3.2 million in the first year of his contract.
On Monday I wrote about Auburn interviewing Smart with the bitter in-state rivals, and found the notion to be somewhat shocking that he would leave for Auburn.
It’s not surprising that he would leave, because Smart is talented and experienced enough to be a head coach in the SEC having worked under the game’s best head coach Nick Saban for a number of years, but the idea he would leave for the Tigers was one I didn’t think would come to fruition.

FACT(Confirmed) He has NOT been hired at this time, 9:00 AM on Tuesday... His name has not been take to Dr. G or the BOT.
(my opinion) Yes he is still a strong candidate and is probable the leader in the club house.
