PFF Grade: 81.6

Thorne is Auburn football’s highest-graded offensive player through the first six games of the season. Thorne is on his way to surpassing last season’s 1,755-yard mark through the air and is six touchdowns away from matching his 2023 total. Through five games, Thorne has thrown just three turnover-worthy passes with nine drops from intended receivers. He has been sacked 13 times and has driven Auburn to 56 first downs.

Did anyone see this???

Well when you're fricking up just as much you probably shouldn't be talking about somebody else. Especially when you're making however many millions he's making and it's the person you chose and gave the reins to that's doing the fricking up. STFU and get it figured out.

PFF is a hilariously bad publication but that blurb is going to trigger some people. You should've started a new thread with it.

Hugh Freeze doesn’t know how to play to his strengths. More Jarquez and rushing, less Peyton and passing. You have liabilities at QB and LT, but keep going to the air too much.

did he actually think anyone on the o-line would get a hat on the MLB (#5) or did he not see the CB creeping toward the LOS while he was directing traffic (and who looked like he knew the play, anyway)?

This is after Thorne talks to right side of line. As you can see RT points to who he picks up. They obviously werent worried about 11 on the top of the screen.

Lo and behold, it's number 11 that blows up the play because he was unblocked. Mindboggling

The way Deal turns 93 makes me think this was a left dive, and Thorne is lying. On a left dive it stands to reason 11 would be the least immediate threat.

But still, that doesn't explain what PT saw that flipped the action to the right. If he thought he could leave 11 unblocked and read off of him he was sorely mistaken as 11 blew up the mesh.

It obviously was the wrong choice but I mean that's how the read option works. Part of the problem was probably how poorly he and Jarquez sold the fake.

Everyone besides brain dead Hokanson knows PT was lying.

Payton probably couldnt have tried to ride the handoff longer to try to get 11 to commit, so I dont like how 11 had Hunter bottled up so quickly without having to commit, that allowed him to transition to Thorne where he was then left for dead.

Whatever he did, no one went to the right side to block, so he completely f'd it up regardless of a check out or not. It's pretty clear by Hunter and Freeze's reaction, that's not what was supposed to happen.

Agree.
It makes it pretty obvious when Hunter looks to the sideline and throws up his hands "WTF style" while Thorne is being swarmed by 5 UGA players, then CHF shakes his head and puts his hands on his knees.

Hunter might've only threw his hands up because he was embarrassed to be a part of the dumb play that our staff had five minutes to cook up.

Edit: Should also be pointed out in black and white Hunter originally lined up in the pistol and Thorne checked out of that and put him on his right hip in shotgun formation. Overwhelming evidence is Thorne's pants are on fire.

Watching the video from behind the line of scrimmage, it sure looked like there was a huge hole on the left side of the line. A dive left could have easily gotten the first down. If Hunter makes a guy miss? Maybe a house call.

11 would have had to be Superman to come across the formation and stop Hunter from getting the yard.

Someone is not telling the truth here. It seems Hunter and Freeze are on the same page. Thorne is not. If Thorne keeps making these bad choices, bench him. Permanently. He’s a fifth year player. It’s not like he’s gonna be coached up much more. At this point, he is who he is.

Take your chances developing a young player.

That’s exactly how I read it. Seemed like hunter and freeze were both very WTH about it and Thorne thinks he’s in the right on these. He said less than two weeks ago he’d throw the same pick ten times. Get him outta here and if we lose at least let it be by someone following the coaches plan.

We’re not going to win the way it’s been going with the triple pump chump anyway.

That's ridiculous. Then everyone would be beating him up for not knowing how to coach. Like they already are.

At some players have to take accountability.

Idk who's at fault but I know that when your right tackle is pointing that he is down blocking the DT and not picking up the end that is a dead give away for a zone read coming right at him. The offense literally gives the play away by pointing to who they are blocking.
-RT points to down blocking
-Thorne points to Hunter where to block

Definitely seems like Thorne changed it at the line, especially since he's having to move Hunter. I think Thorne is saying that since he has authority to change plays based on what he sees then that's not him changing the play.

Yes. I am still unsure how one player bottled up two players so easily. That playcall is meant to put conflict or stress on the DE. Our play was blown up before the start.
