It's all relative.

8-5 after a half decade of 5-7 is a step in the right direction.

Cant hang out there though.

Shockingly and confusingly, from listening to some of the FSU writers, sounds like he acted like a real jack arse down there (for $2M a year), basically eventually not wanting to be there (in the middle of the season) and playing a game of chicken with the admin to try to get fired.

This has tarnished my thoughts of him.

For those that need the insight, Malzahn or Tuberville are (take your pick) distant, distant, distant seconds to Pat Dye. Both did incredible work - Malzahn two times playing for the national title and somewhat holding serve with Saban head to head and Tuberville basically winning a national title and pounding UA when he was supposed to.

But both were lazy MFers at times and had they been in Dye's position we'd still be playing UA in Bammerham.

If you just look at what they mean to Auburn (stats be damned because we are comparing eras), you can't leave Shug out.

I'd go Dye, Shug, Tubbs, Gus, in that order.

Mike Donahue was very successful.

Shug is possibly the best Auburn man ever.

Dye was a great coach.

Tubbs was good, not quite great.

Malzahn delivered 2013.

I will never forget nor forgive Gus for recruiting Tyler Queen over Lamar Jackson.

Was he a Louisville transfer? I remember thinking a Louisville transfer QB was gonna take us to new heights then it mever happened. I had forgotten about it in all of the misery. Oh what should have been.

You are soft. Letting beat writers on the internet skew your thoughts.

If tweet fails to load, click here.
If Gus prayed to have an OL every year at Auburn he would still be here.

Tubs was a huge beneficiary of a low point at Alabama (probation and poor coaching hires). Gus faced Bama at their very best in history and fared better than any other coach in the country. FWIW.

That said, I still maintain the 2004 Auburn and Tubs could have beaten an all-star team from USC and OU for the natty. Got totally hosed on that one.
