Pat Dye? No, never heard anyone make that comparison, ever.
The comparison was made while he was in good graces albeit. All you gotta do is use google to figure that out.
Harsin was a maverick and a drag racer. A cross between John Wayne and Pat Dye.
He was the “chemo”- this is still a knee slapper to this day. People here actually ran with that narrative and called others soft for not cheering on full-on self destruction.
If someone here finds me the chemo thread and the accompanying chemo article
I’ll send 20$ by venmo. I want to embarrass the fire out of the stupid chemo Auburn ”fans” just one more time.

More than half y’all dipshits thought Harsin was the next Pat Dye.
I’ll decide in 4 years if Freeze is the man or not. All resources are available to be successful.
I'm with Corch.

Show your work. Show posters in here that called him Dye. That was the claim

This is how I’ve gotten with all of Auburn football. After decades of putting on my blinders for each new coach and seeing only the good and refusing to see the not so good and falling in love with spring and fall practice tidbits about the Phillip Pierre-Louis and Greg Smith’s of the world.. I’m in complete “show me” mode. I think Freeze has a chance to have success at auburn for sure but I’m not gonna talk myself into thinking he’s about to go on some Kirby Smart like run here

So we are in agreement then.

Yeah, every coach since Barfield has had success at Auburn other than Harsin

I’ve seen it plenty of times but I’m not going to go find em just because you want to ruin my Saturday.
Dye was the definition of toughness and Harsin being a hard arse made for an easy comparison
From Zach Blackerby:
quote:
Many compared Auburn’s new head coach Bryan Harsin to a legendary figure that had the same job many years before him, Coach Pat Dye.
LINK
From BRUCE PEARL:
People around the program says in many ways Harsin reminds them of Pat Dye

So, no dip shits from our board? I honestly do not remember and therefore believe no one here compared him to Dye.
To be fair, I do admit he was hyped up on the board. No denying that.

People on this board were definitely obsessed with his hardo attitude

They won't fail from a lack of effort. That's all we can ask for, really.

Time will tell. I've been impressed with what CHF has done so far, but staff changes should be expected. They always happen, and happen for different reasons.
It starts at the top, and there is no doubt that Freeze is an upgrade from Harbee.

So we should have shat all over the new coach until he proved himself in the SEC even though he had success elsewhere.
I agree totally. Given that, if we had brought in someone with no head coaching experience we should have screamed from the heavens, protested and blocked off the streets leading to the stadium.....but we didnt do that with Cadillac did we?
Bunch of Monday morning QBing going on here. Its long gone in the rearview fellas, get rid of that dingleberry and move on.
Freeze is gonna chop some wood and you dont even have to wait to see it.

Total 54-23-1
69% wins on 78 games
Terry Bowden:
Salem 19-13
Samford 45-23-1
Total 64-36-1
63% wins on 101 games
Tommy Tuberville:
Ole Miss 25-20
56% wins on 45 games
Gene Chizik:
Iowa State 5-19
21% wins on 24 games
Gus Malzahn:
Arkansas State 9-3
75% wins on 12 games
Brian Harsin:
Arkansas State 7-5
Boise State 69-19
Total 76-24
76% wins on 100 games
Hugh Freeze:
Arkansas State 10-3
Ole Miss 39-25
Liberty 34-15
Total 83-43
66% wins on 126 games
Freeze is the most seasoned coach we have hired in 50 years.
He is only 1 of 3 coaches that have big football conference experience.
He has the best winning % of those three:
- Tubs at 56%
- Chiz at 21%
- Freeze at 61%(just using his Ole Miss numbers).
He is the best hire we have made in my lifetime. If he turns out as good as Tubs - I am happy.

I'm liking what's I've seen soo far.
I had my hopes for Harsin wither on the vine when he didn't recruit heavily for the O-line which we had seen as a kind of turnstile.

I picture you as a short little round angry man. An irate midget with bloodshot eyes from your persistent nightly boozing… ranting about Auburn athletes and coaches. You spew your venomous musings on a message board like a Knight’s Templar of the keyboard every evening.

I brought statistics and Twitter anecdotes to back my assertions. I stayed friendly the whole thread.
That’s how it should be done.
…..I trust that your feelings will heal from this thread….
