Oregon, TAMU, and MSU was suppose to beat us, per the experts. But I agree. I had us at 9 wins.

I think the 2013 BCS game ruined started Gus's downfall. I think if we win that game....we would probably have multiple championships at this point with GM. It took something out of him. This happens in Sports of all kinds all throughout history. Every since then he has lost that fire. That aggressive "We are going to dictate what we do regardless who we play and they are not going to stop us"....I don't remember Gus ever running out the clock in 2010, 2013 and even 2014. Now if the game isn't going well he clams up in his shell and goes super conservative. If the game is going well and we get a big lead against a big team...he goes super conservative. It's a no win situation. I like him as a man. I think he runs a good clean program. I think he has some issues in OL recruiting and QB development, and player utilization and development that will not ever be corrected.

I can't remember, but i thought we were favored in all of those above.

Have we won every game we have been favored? Lost those we were not favored? I can't remember.

If you put Dabo in Gus' situation, they have similar results.
Wut. Dabo is a tier 1 leader of men and runs a program with a well-defined identity. And has beat Bama on the biggest stage two out of three times. If the inverse of your situation is true then Gus should be able to win multiple championships with Clemson, and from the outside looking in that just seems ludicrous.

Dabo doesnt make it out of the West last year to make the playoffs. They look terrible this year and are shielded by their conference schedule. If you have a difficult time seeing that, then I am not sure what to tell you.

Actually, I think it was the 2014 IB that ruined Gus. We had 630 total yards, compared to Bama's 539. Scored 44 points on Bama and lost by 11. Up 26-21 at half, but we settled for 4 FGs of under 25 yards each and 2 TDS.

I don’t care how much a person hates Gus, the 2014 IB loss is on Ellis Johnson. I know buck stops with HC, but Johnson’s scheme the 2nd half was dogshit

Clemson doesn’t even come close having to play the competition we do year after year.

But I have only a guess how Gus would do were it switched. I assume he could win 7-8 in the ACC.

Dabo has done a great job but let’s not pretend he is playing any other teams in their conference that is worth a damn.

Gus has shown he can beat Bama and given a month or more to prepare can do the same.

You only believe Gus could win 7-8 games per year in a ACC schedule?

Come on man.

How many conference games do they have dude?

Key word conference. Didn’t say season.

I could see how you could take it that way. He could definitely be in the 10-11 plus

The year they trounce Alabama, the team that won the west, they don't make it out of the west for the playoff? Amazing you love Gus so much it's made you stupid.

They've had no problem making it through the playoff and winning the whole thing twice. They're conference sucks no doubt. But even when they go toe to toe with the best, they win. The SEC is the hardest gauntlet no doubt but to act like teams and coaches outside the conference are inferior bc of it is asinine. Dabo and Clemson are elite and if you can't see that then idk what to say.

So let’s say Gus goes, who does Auburn hire? I don’t mean pie in the sky wishes, but who realistically would come? I am frustrated with the offensive improvement, but I also realize that “right now” Gus is better than what we could replace him with. I am more in the camp of “ he will continue to get better” rather than “ anyone else is better”.

Right, they do because they don’t have to play their starters for most of the season. Helps to build depth. Like I said Dabo built that and should get all the praise. He is definitely one hell of a CEO HC.

There is absolutely no way to know this. Coaching hires are 95% of the time crap shoots. Unless you're a blue blood you rarely ever get to hire the proven winners. Dabo was essentially hired off the streets and has become a homerun. Other "home run" type hires at the time ended up fizzling out. Both of the last two hires by Texas are great examples. And then sometimes the guys that take the mid majors and win 12 games a year with them become Urban Meyer. Sometimes the guys that hover around .500 but have one good season at Michigan state turn into Nick Saban. There are good candidates with potential out there that can be nit picked to death like Bill Clark and PJ Fleck or Matt Rhule or Dave Aranda. There's plenty of names to throw around. If Ed O can succeed idk why one of those guys couldn't.

I say all that to say this. Nobody on this message board can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that there's not an elite coach in the making coaching some other school out there. But an overwhelming majority of us know that Gus is not an elite coach in the making. So it makes more sense to take your chances with the field. Unless you're ok with 4 losses every season like it seems like alot of you are
