Great kid and family

That makes more sense to me. He seems like a mature guy and I wish it had worked out for him.

Wish him the best. Seems premature though. Wasn't supposed to end this way. Expected him to compete for QB1 this year or next

I’d recommend any high school kid to go somewhere we they can play.

where their chance at development is highest

That isn’t Auburn University, unfortunately

Wish him the best of luck.

Maybe.

Depends on where he goes.

In the long run, that may not necessarily be a bad thing.

Such a weird thing. Dude was rated as highly as deuce and it just seemed like he was totally ignored all season by our fans who acted like we had to sign a deuce or juju in this class or we were doomed forever even though neither of those guys would have been ready next year anyway.

Unfortunately the way the year went Hugh used up all his good graces and any chance to bring along a young talented but inexperienced qb and had to bring in someone with more experience to win now or he knows he'll be fired. Walker just got caught in the middle. If Arnold has a good year next year deuce will prob portal out too. Just the new world we live in and it sucks

No. It’s called big boy recruiting. You want to sign the best players you can get every year, so you don’t end up with the QB situation we have had for years now.

I hope whoever the QB is next year has a great year, whether it’s Arnold, Deuce, or someone who isn’t on the team yet. Arnold is going into his 3rd season of college. If he has a great year, he’ll probably go pro. And then Deuce or the next guy will take over.

I get it, but the panic didn't make sense. Deuce or Juju or anyone else was never going to contribute next year.

Agreed, though it would be a huge jump to go from where he is now to a leave early pro prospect. I'm just making the point that this situation with Walker isn't going to be unique to Auburn or anyone else going forward and I can easily see it playing out again with Deuce next year. If a highly rated player comes in and they don't see a path to playing time by year 2 they are going to bolt almost every time. College football sucks now.

I really thought he would stay at least this year and try to compete. Now we need to sign two more QBs.

Then again, I knew things weren't looking good when he was 4th string this past year.

Guys want to play, I get it. If he can go somewhere that they guarantee him a starting spot, I can't blame him.

I’m not even sure that any QB in this portal age will develop and be at the same school for 4 or 5 years anymore. I think that has changed irrevocably unfortunately.

Honestly, if none of them could beat out trash Thorne, that tells you everything.

Good thing we have an offensive guru as head coach and a master QB teacher in Kent Austin!

Just kidding, quarterback play has been historically atrocious the last two years. Freeze is singing Jackson Arnold’s praises now, but he did the same thing with Thorne when he transferred in. I’m not holding my breath. What I’ve seen since Freeze came in has been so bad it’s hard to put into words. 6-7 wins is his ceiling.

Bye, hardly knew you, go find another pay check.

The kid (or his parents) wanted him to sit out his red-shirt year and now he's gone... which seems like a renege on the deal. He got what he wanted and now gone so I don't see where any allegiance is due. It's not like he excelled in public or made the University better for being here. He did an excellent job as a recruiter but that's looking more all about me with the move.

IE: Just another mercenary, who got got paid, and is now off to the next job. And well beneath the mandatory let's see what you got.

Big difference in circumstance as when we brought in Thorne we had no real talent at WR and we were desperately trying to piece a functioning offensive line together. That’s going to impact the QBs you can get to come and it certainly had an impact on intererst.

And what did you expect Freeze to say about Thorne? “He’s dumb as a rock and pretty mid but he’s the best I could get”

Yes. Anyone know how much NIL money he got from AU to sign with AU?

Wish him well but everything. I’ve heard sounded like he was lost playing qb. He certainly looked it against ULM.

Freeze needs to have nailed this JA decision and I hope he did. Pulling for Arnold.

If not, Old Bucky will be ran off and we can hire Duckman 2.0- Lanning

Of course...

How much longer are we supposed to call this sport "college football"?
