Not surprised by a flip under the circumstances but the destination is a little unexpected

I dont know. Doing a little reading and State has been expecting his flip.
Could just be the coaching turmoil gave him cold feet. He was one that didn't have a positive quote on the Golesh hire. It was something along the lines of "I dont know who that is."

I think Womack flipping it means Durkin is out. I have mixed emotions. Part of me wants a full clean house to get rid of loser mentality.

I would have loved Durkin to stay as DC, but honestly if the choice was between losing him or making him HC, it is a no brainer.

I think you’re right. It was fun thinking about out him staying on as DC to compliment Golesh’s offense.
But, I know it’s gotta be hard on Durkin. He probably went to bed thinking that the job was his. I wonder if Cohen called him at 2 am, or in the morning?
As good a DC as he was, there are others out there just as good. Plus, it’s probably good to rid ourselves of anything associated with the culture of the last ten years.

I would think since he didn't get the job if he is going to stay a DC he would rather work for someone he knows rather than someone he doesn't know.
