Only thing I can think of is cohen is protecting freeze. I don’t really hear any chatter for retaining him.

I'm listening to the radio and they are just running off horrible Freeze stats. Utterly embarrassing stats, just one after the other.
It is a slap in the face to anyone working in any football operations, the fans, and the players to let that scumbag work even one more minute at Auburn. He is the worst coach ever. Worst. I don't care who you bring up, you can run off utterly hellish stats one after the other about Hugh Scumbag Freeze's reign at Auburn. He makes freaking potato boy look like a golden child.
I just don't get it.

Trying to remember.
Only SEC not to score at least 20 in a conference game this year.
Four straight 0-4 conference starts.
1 Top 25 win in 3 years.
Averaging 1.75 points per game in 3rd Quarters this year.
5-15 SEC record (0 this year).
14-18 record in three years.
Losing record at JHS (9-10).
In 2025, 94th nationally in points per game.
In 2025, 109th in yards per game.
-5 yards in 2OT Saturday.

Here’s another fine stat.
In the last 4 games, we’ve had 10 opportunities to either tie or take the lead. We scored once to tie and on the other 9 drives we ran 35 plays for 24 total yard, with 4 being for negative yardage.

I think the PTB may be trying to figure out what to do if they do fire Hugh Freeze. Unfortunately landing a coach who can deliver the expected results in an amount of time acceptable to the fan base is going to be extremely difficult at best and borderline impossible at worst. The kind of coach we need already has a job and will be reluctant to come to Auburn and extinguish the dumpster fire.

Demeco Ryans might be available. Been saying that for years.

Mentally, I’ve moved on from being upset with Hugh. This is his ceiling and although he’s stubborn, has his past and talked a big game the last couple of years, I’m starting to think he truly doesn’t know how to fix what’s wrong and the missing 25% needed to win big games. It’s getting uncomfortable hearing him somewhat squirm, not know what to say, every podcast Groundhog Day pile on.
It’s too bad he couldn’t hire an OC and let that person run their offense. He’s good at everything outside of practice and game day (and QB eval). You could fairly argue the culture is a problem, as seen by the rest-of-game offense softness at any significant adversity moment and penalties/discipline; he was never a big program OC or position coach (sans TEs 2006-2007 at Ole Miss) and unless he humbled himself and sought advice/consulting might never be fixed.
I’ve gotta think Durkin has offered his advice watching this destruction derby, unless he’s playing his cards for the HC job.
The traditional waiting until late November to fire and search is not the strategy anymore with signing day beginning of December, portal in January with no more Spring portal. I don’t understand the podcasters and beat reporters justifying to wait.
My attention and ire now turns to the AD and PTB. Cohen is doing well with many other matters. But, with everything we’ve (and they’ve) seen, they are overall, bottom line accountable at this point.

I agree that finding the right coach that wants to take this project on after the last five seasons is going to be a big lift.
I also came to the realization over the weekend that firing Hugh in the middle of the season doesn't really give Auburn any advantages.
The next hire is still employed and will be throughout the season unless you want to hire a recently fired coach (outside of Franklin who wouldn't be my top choice) or think that Saban or Meyer can be drawn out of retirement (I think we all agree that ain't happening).
If we fire Hugh and move Durkin to interim and the team responds and closes well, does a faction of the fan base or TPTB then begin to think he should be a candidate for the position moving forward? If so then what does that do to any potential search?

This is also the first time in history that an Auburn HC has started SEC play 0-4 for three years in a row. It's unbelievable that he still has a job here.
If the PTB really cared for Freeze, they'd fire him before Diego Pavia beats his arse for a 4th time in a row when Vandy comes in a few weeks.

My favorite stat... In the 4th qtr and 2 overtimes against mizzou we compiled 14 yards.

Firing him now would give him a shot at Tulane, USCe, Va Tech and all those other shitty jobs that will open soon.

So Hugh asked for Cohen to give him a vote of confidence?! What a fricking loser. Atlanta radio is just dying laughing at him and our AD right now

I'm not defending Hugh but i don't think that's accurate

That is very interesting. That might just be crazy enough to work.
