We have to have an accurate passer more so than a strong runner.

Maybe JJ is the man from the get go.

That's what I'm thinking. If our OL and RBs are as good as reported, we'll need someone to take the heat off of them in the passing game. A little surprised JJ is this strong early in his career.

His height is a huge advantage for him to be able to see over the line. NM is only 6'1".

JJ is a REALLY gifted passer. I'm sure he can learn a few things from coaching, but I saw him live a couple times (and obviously have watched every video I can find), and his accuracy is incredible.

Also, while he doesn't look as agile as NM when running the ball, I think this is due to his huge frame, much like Cam's. I am willing to bet Cam didn't look amazing running the ball in scrimmages and practice, but when the lights come on and he is really trying to avoid tackles, there was no stopping him. Cue JJ Heisman campaign.

Hopefully JJ starts early, because we all know he won't be playing once White gets to campus, amirite?

I am more worried about JJ scaring White off if he starts and is any good.

Wrong indeed. JJ is the real deal Holyfield. Never seen a more cool and collected high school player. Playoffs, against Fairhope, down 6, 1 minute to go, and he leads his team all the way down the field into the endzone with not one look of doubt.

Well you take the good with the bad.

If JJ is the starter and has a solid first year, AU will be in good shape for at least 3 seasons.

White may still come regardless. He can always redshirt and be two years behind JJ.

Scare him off to where? Cincinnati? Anyway, JJ not RS will put two years between them which makes it even more appealing.

ETA: Fans put way too much thought into current depth when it comes to recruiting. Look at Bama. They signed Top 100 Cooper Bateman, then Top 100 David Cornwell, and then they already got 5* Ricky Town for 2015. Good QBs don't care who's at the school they want to go to

IF he is named starter...you can pick up two.

I have always thought JJ could be very special from day 1. Once we got NM, I put a little more faith in him out of the gate because he has the JUCO experience and everyone that has seen him says he is the best athlete they've ever seen. So, I'll be more than happy with either of those 2 at this point.

Same here. I was kinda nervous about this race at the beginning because I thought Wallace or Frazier could potentially win, but now I'm good with whoever wins since they're out

I wanted Jeremy Johnson before he blew up the camp circuit last year. I was one of the few wanting him over bigger prospects, like Christian Hackenburg. I wasn't opposed to taking both, but I knew it'd be a mistake to pass him over for someone else. Ole Miss would've really gotten a future super star, and I'm glad they didn't.

Love JJ. He was my favorite QB prospect last year. I can't wait to see him starting for Gus. Hopefully Marshall provides quality depth there.

Maybe Gus should install the wishbone, veer, or ND box this season until the QB's ramp up?

We may be looking at a two quarterback system similar to the way we use running backs. I could see where this could cause defenses a real problem between downs. It would be a very difficult thing to prepare for if each quarterback basically has a different game plan. Gus likes to do such things with running backs why not quarterbacks.

That would be a first in Gus' career.

When you have two, you dont have one.

No thank's to the 2 Quarterback system. 2008 is a prime example

I wouldn't really call that a 2 QB system. I mentioned a few pages back I wouldn't mind starting JJ and letting NM get around 7-8 snaps a game ALL qb draws and read options. You would basically be using him as a 3rd RB. I wouldn't call that a 2 qb system since they wouldn't be competing against each other.

He's too explosive to sit on the sidelines.
