Yeah, I think the point I'm trying to get across here is that JJ's redshirt year is valuable and if he's named the starter it will only because there is a significant gap between him and the rest of the QBs. If it's neck and neck with Marshall then I think Marshall gets the job and JJ sits this year
Yeah, I think most of us would agree with this.

I don't fear him starting. I was hoping Marshall would win to give JJ year, but bring him on now, if he is hands down the best.

One question...Do any of you think JJ taking over could hurt us with the incoming QB's? I know that doesn't come into play with the decision.

If we recruit top QB talent ever year, there's no reason to RS JJ, unless he's just not ready. Let the best play

I'm struggling to understand why JJ possibly starting is so feared. Before Marshall that's what everyone wanted
1. Our choices were KF and JW. Simple enough.
2. Distance from first game. Now, today, opening game is about here.
3. You sure people were calling for him to start, or projecting him to start? I remember after the Spring Game Jeremy said he was going to start

Marshall threw 2 to Fulse and Denson
Johnson threw 2 to Louis and Marcus Davis

I was saying "awesome" because 4 passing td's in an 87 play scrimmage is nice. Sounds like Gus / Lashlee may have brought some of that Arkansas State air attack to the Plains

No, if anything it would help. Put more years between them if we don't RS JJ.

Yeah that too

A great offense would really take the pressure off our D though.

I'm with you. If JJ is the better QB, start him now.

QBs didn't go live today, I'm guessing Gus is pretty close to naming a starter.

I don't have any cool details about today's scrimmage but I'm struggling to understand why JJ possibly starting is so feared. Before Marshall that's what everyone wanted, especially when JJ was tearing up 7 on 7s. Plus it ends the yearly QB carousel we've dealt with since Brandon Cox graduated. We won't be in the SECW race anyways.

I pretty much said this a few days back. I'm tired of a new QB each year. Johnson is our future. Love to see him play three or four years so we can get some rhythm on offense.

I still like the idea of starting JJ and letting NM get about 10 snaps a game all read option and qb draws

Heard this two years ago about Frazier. As you can see, it is not always good to put in a player before he is ready. fricking with someone's confidence is horrible

See Frazier, Brantley at UF and countless others
