Uh, which in year 1 he redshirted and year 2 he had to sit out due to NCAA rules.

I'm sure Grant would have put up those numbers in JUCO. As a 21 year old.

It was a funny way to word it as neither has proved jack squat in this league ("played a significant snap" in your own words)

Agreed. Hearing about the push for the o-line to get in shape and lose weight is a bad omen for Slade.

Hearing the word "inconsistent" a lot when talking about the wr's is a bit of a let down. Hopefully its coach talk

Wasn't grant hurt pretty much all of last year?

quote:Doubt it. Normally when a coach says something less than positive, it's true. I wonder what the cause of the inconsistencies is though. Is it poor catching by the WRs, or poor throwing from the QBs?

I have a feeling Lashlee wouldn't claim the WR's were inconsistent if it was bad throwing. I also think they are going to be tougher on the wide receivers in their route running, blocking, and catching because they need to step up their play. Malzahn has mentioned several times the WR's need to prove themselves this year.
Bottom line they are not going to give any slack to those guys, and will be held to a high standard...Which I applaud.

I hope Malzahn takes a Petrino like approach with being anal with our WRs
Clearly letting them do whatever the frick they want hasn't been working

Yes, because when players like Jake Holland continued to start with broken ankles, shoulders, what-the-frick-ever (with apparently no back-up), or OMac running power traps up the gut, or Frazier starting through half the season, or a walk-on starting at safety, or Mason getting less than 13 carries in 6 out of our 8 conference games, or Prosch's role being non-existent throughout the year, or moving Daren Bates to LB, or moving L. Owens to DE (only to be moved back to LB 3 years later), our ex-coaches definitely made tons of smart decisions over the past few years.

He was pretty strict about blocking and alignment last time he was here.

I was told by an All SEC lineman who was here under Petrino that the guy was the most cerebral person he has ever played under. He said the amount and sophisitcation of walkthroughs they went through were unbelievable. Also, he pointed out that during the walkthroughs, Petrino would notice if any person was even a half step in the wrong place/direction and would see the whole field.
Said Petrino was a complete asshat and fricking hated him but was a hell of a coach

May be telling info, may not. But...

For what it's worth -- and four practices into fall camp, it might not be much -- quarterbacks Jonathan Wallace and Nick Marshall worked with Tre Mason, Cameron Artis-Payne and Corey Grant, with Kiehl Frazier and Jeremy Johnson on the other side, too far away for a good video shot.

How can this be? Everyone here says Wallace sucks and is not SEC material based upon last season.
